THIS. I'd almost be willing to put the interim tag on CKS, pay him very handsomely, and let him coach next season with the understanding that he is coaching for the job full time and that the job is basically open. Then put the full court press on Fisher considering the odds favor him being unlikely to be playing in the national title game two years in a row.

I honestly can't see Bama hiring a black head coach.

I know thats terrible, but I believe that.

You don't think if David Shaw (for example) let Bama people know he was interested that he wouldn't be a strong candidate? People forget that Alabama came closer than any SEC school at the time to hiring the SEC's first AA head coach when Shula was hired. In fact, Mississippi State probably doesn't hire Sly Croom without the high profile Alabama search where Sly Croom got a lot of support from a large portion of the Alabama fanbase in that search.

I would think that they would promote Smart, but what about David Shaw. With the success he's had at Stanford he could probably work wonders at Bama.

He runs a similar team to Bama at Stanford. I think he'd do great at Bama. One would wonder though if he can handle the recruiting competition of the SEC.

If the Bama position comes open, I believe James Franklin should be at the top of the list. What he has done at Vandy is pretty impressive but it probably won't happen.

Why isn't anyone mentioning Rich Rodriguez (or if they did I missed it)? He almost went to Bama once and I think would be a front runner. He has the type of offense that it may take to win in the SEC over the next 2-3 years.

That'd be a great hire imo

But all signs point to Kirby for now.

Seriously. This is the kind of thing that makes me wonder how detached from reality some bama fans can be.

That, coupled with the fact that Bama ruined his health and drove him out of the SEC. Surely Bama faithful would not get behind that kind of talk.

Meyer bailed on the SEC; I doubt he wants to make things harder on himself.

A. What?
B. Chicken swore Urbs was going to UTex a few seasons ago... And was incorrect.
C. That wouldn't be Urban leaving for Bama, that would be Urban leaving for Texas.
