head coach. Last one we had was Saban. Thus the results. He knew how to pick coordinators (assistant coaches).

Saban was the opposite of what you are asking.
A great many of the firings in recent years and fan displeasure has come exactly from teams with HCs that don't act as the CEO and get overly involved in the playcalling of their specialty.
LSU just needs a young, energetic coach that focuses on developing team culture and discipline, same as all teams.
Guarantees to old guys of a golden parachute buyout and long term contracts does little as an incentive to continue the grind they have lived for 20+ years to be successful.
