Wake Forest hires Bowling Green's Dave Clawson to be next head coach

Deacons Illustrated ?@WakeRivals
Just confirmed w/ a source close to #WFU that Dave Clawson from #BGSU has been hired to be the #Deacs next head football coach.

Don't know much about him other than the BG-NIU game from the other night.

He was put in a bad situation at UT in Fulmer's final year. I hope he does well.

Good coach. BGSU has played lights out D for two years.

Tough situation in Winston Salem, but if Duke can do it...

I'm a big fan of Clawson. Don't look at his numbers as the OC at Tennessee and hold it against him.

The guy can coach.

My cousin is his dc, mike elko, and there was a lot of chatter on the rutgers board that they were gonna go after him. Michael has followed clawson at his last 2 stops.

Da fuq?

Wake went to 3 straight bowls from 06-08, including an 11-win and a 9-win season. Three years later, they were in the Music City Bowl against Mississippi State. If it wasn't for some bad breaks (including a plethora of injuries), they would've been bowling in 2009 and 2012 as well. It's not a great program by any means, but it has more recent success than Duke. The facilities are MUCH better than Duke's, the academics aren't quite as restrictive, and Wake produces more NFL players than Duke. The jobs are certainly comparable, but in no way is Duke an easier job than Wake. Wake even went to bowls under Jim Caldwell and Bill Dooley, both of whom were terrible. Prior to last year, Duke had only been to 8 bowl games in their history, and half of those were before 1960. Cutcliffe is a great coach, Duke is probably the toughest BCS job in the country. Wake has a better chance of consistent success, as Grobe showed before he went full retard with his assistants.
