Would be an excellent hire as a position coach imo.

UT stocking up on more Saban coaches. Seems to have worked so far.

Word is he is wanting to return to Knoxville.

Good hire IMO. Better position coach than coordinator. He's not that strong of a recruiter though, but with Sunseri in the fold, I doubt he will be expected to do much recruiting.

Steele not a good recruiter?
Not sure if serious.

He's certainly not on the level, recruiting wise, as Sunseri and Kirby Smart. But, then again, not many are. When Steele was Bama's DC, Lance Thompson was our ace recruiter. Not Steele. Steele also has some family (I believe his father) health issues that causes him to stay home a majority of the time. Not that you can blame him. Family comes first and that's how it should be.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Steele doesn't recruit. He's just more of an on-campus recruiting guy. It wasn't meant to demean the man.

Pretty sure Steele is considered to be a great recruiter. Especially compared to his coaching ability.

Correct, Steele is regarded as a phenomenal recruiter from everything I've gathered. I'd be thrilled to add him at the LB spot.

Steele would be a geat hire for Dooley as a LB coach.
UT needs to do what Auburn did and open the check book for an up and coming coach. It may be the only thing that can save Dooley at this point. Getting big name assistants will show stability and strengthen the program.

What is Lance Thompson coaching at Tennessee?

Then why wouldn't Sunseri be DC/LBs? Unless you're moving to a 3-4, why would you need a separate LBs coach?

Sunseri may coach LBs, but we still have a hire to make somewhere defensively to replace Sirmon.

To be honest, I'd probably rather just save up for Dooley's replacement. I keep hearing Smart is Hart's guy, but I have to think Tennessee will at least try bigger first, even if they get turned down. I know they're willing to spend, so I have to think they'll make a run at some guys who are actually qualified for the job (unlike Dooley).

We are supposedly moving to a 3-4..Dooley says multiple, but beat writers are saying they want to go to a 3-4.
Steele also has experience coaching DB's...did so his first go around at UT.
