Yes you are. As part of getting you to resign, they agree to honor the payout.

Agreed as well - it will be reported as a "resignation" although the terms that govern a "firing" will be negotiated/adhered to.

Obviously an out-of-nowhere voluntary resignation is different.

Based on Charlie's PAST behavior: he is refusing to resign on principle and will subsequently allege that a racist conspiracy kept him from being successful. Just wait; it's coming. He has a big chip on his shoulder and a history of this.

I believe the money is there to pay the full buy out should he not want to "negotiate." So in the end he could refuse and we just pay him the full amount to walk away.

The money was ready to go last year as well.

Oh yeah, I agree. There's not going to be a problem on the UT side with paying him to go.

I'm just saying what I think is the reason he hasn't just resigned like he was asked to (and would have made sense for him to have done).

The element of the story that people who are confused by this are missing is that Charlie is a professional Race Card Puller and no doubt has convinced himself that he failed because he was undermined (I am not saying he was, I am saying what he and his people are thinking) by "racists". That's why it's looking like UT is going to have to fire him instead of him taking a "resignation" deal like just about ALL other coaches do. He's then going to spend two weeks on ESPN telling everyone his failure was the fault of "racists".

It ultimately won't matter, but this is what's going to happen. This is why the guy was always passed on for big jobs despite his resume. He interviews terribly (he has poor spoken English skills) and is a know race-baiter.

I'm sure some do. But what do 18-22 year old college football players know about the reality of the situation?
you mean the 18-22 year olds that are supposed to play for next year's coach?

Red's comments at the beginning were wrong and unfortunate
they were pretty awful and set the tone for Strong's tenure.

Why would UT players carry Strong off the field after the first game of the season? Weird dynamic...should be interested to see how this plays out in the locker room.

Exactly.

It's because he and his players felt that it was them and their coach against the racist establishment that didn't want him.

It's going to get done, and they're probably going to make a good hire, but in the interim there's going to be a mess in the media.

They'll play - they've already discussed this supposed boycott and downplayed it today. There are unhappy players whenever a coach is fired/leaves.

Name them

UT has treated him like hot garbage and he never did get full support. Even now UT is blaming this mess on him for not "resigning". He doesnt owe them shite and its typical UT arrogance to expect him to resign.

Can you post the link where UT (i.e., an employee of the school) is "blaming" Strong for not resigning?

I'd like to read what he/she has said.

Name a coach who was fired where technically it wasn't a "resignation".

They all "resign".

Google big coaching names who've been fired and actually read the press release and you'll see that 9/10 it says they "resigned".

Dennis Freakin Franchione "resigned" from A&M.

That's just how it's done.

If that's the case with Strong just wait until A&M fires Sumlin and watch the shitshow unfold over there. Should be amusing.

Yeahhh... so combine that with Sumlin's $15MM buyout that has to be paid in 60 days after terminating him and you can see why A&M won't be firing Sumlin this year.

We'll wait until next year, which is assured to be a disaster, in order to fire him at a lower buyout, and be able to point to a poor season after SIX years as a justifiable cause.

Firing Sumlin after 6 will be a lot different than firing Charlie after 3, particularly since A&M didn't have any boosters openly protest Sumlin's hiring like Red did to Strong, and because they've given him a complete overhaul and expansion of the player facilities AND a $500MM stadium renovation to recruit with.

Texas Longhorns suck...period. Arrogant. The shite show in Austin is hilarious. They causes it themselves.....dismantled big 12, failed longhorn network. Grateful y'all not in SEC.
