What about Les, what are you hearing about Les?

I think Texas is clearly putting a premium on guys that have won championships. Since that is a criteria, I think it would put Les on the list.

Les was at OSU and knows the Big 12. He recruits well and would be a force in Oklahoma, Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana.

I don't think he is the first guy on the list but I bet he is on the list.

That Les is in play because he has won a title, competed for another, and is available now. I can't see UT hiring him, but who really knows.

Assuming UT can't get Saban, other than age maybe, why can't you see UT hiring Les?

I think that makes sense and jives with what I was initially told.

I think Les would do very well at UT but he seems too much like Mack Brown...

"Are you willing to do the same for Alabama"

Why are you bringing Alabama up in response to an A&M poster? We currently have an AA head coach in one of the Big 2 sports. In fact, every single school in the SEC except for Florida and USCe has had an AA head coach in either football or basketball (or both). When is Texas going to break the color barrier?

Do you see Les's tenure at LSU ending the same as Mack at Texas?

I don't think so...I am just speaking from a UT perspective. Les doesn't fit the category of "splash" hire.

I did some more snooping and found out that Saban is still very much in play...sorry Bama fans...don't expect this to go away until someone not named Nick Saban is hired by UT.

I don't ever expect it to go away. They could hire Belichick today, and it wouldn't go away.

Saban in play = Texas guys still think they have a shot and are still putting out the same rumors they have been putting out the past month

if the whole Saban drama has taught me anything, "inside sources" means jack diddly and is just cause to rustle our jimmies

basically in these guys heads "We can still get Nick Saban" despite the articles and interviews where he says they can't

these boosters think they can get anything because they're rich dudes who are used to getting anything and I'm starting to believe that Texas boosters suffer from this the worst

well, Mack coached there for 16 years and only won 2 Big 12 titles and both won and lost a BCS title game...Les has only been at LSU for nine years, has two SEC titles and both won and lost a BCS title game...if Les doesn't win another SEC title over the next 5-7 years, I think it is fair to say that he could get nudged out.

Well, in fairness to UT, a big obstacle in presenting an offer to Nick is out the way (Mack retiring)...until then, no formal offer had been made. Now, UT has a number they need to beat ($7.5 million/year) and beat significantly...until Nick formally tells them no, why would UT not pursue him?

Public Rejection/Humiliation for a 2nd time. That's the only reason.

they can make their pitch, but he's not really an option

everything he's said the past year has been to the contrary and any interest has been second hand internet gossip which has been refuted

Texas is an amazing job but the only reason he's even still a possibility is due to the way he left Miami after repeated denials
