Seriously. offer saban 15 million and make him either take it or make bama match it. He'd be worth every penny if he somehow agreed. And if not at least we'd make bama squirm and pay up to keep him. 15 mill would be cheap for 1-2 automatic championships. Also if we threw that kind of offer out there, we'd start seeing some big names showing interest.

I'm tired if all this loser attitude that we can't afford an elite coach or they don't want to come. We need to make them want to come here. Get some balls and make a big time hire.

how many titles has that offense won? its not new, versions have been around for 50 years, if its so great why does no one in the NFL run it?

This was said about Auburn's O, Floridas offense, RPOs, and take a look at Bama currently.. they're largely a horizontal offense.

Run first/play-action from the I is as outdated as the wishbone

Money people want a top coach they can control. That's why Jimbo is the money target. He has friends here, they think that friendship would allow a certain amount of influence.

Saban will not be controlled.

Wanting control is also why LSU won't land a top coach.

I'm sure Random could confirm this, but he won't.

I'm starting to warm up to Fedora after doing some research. It wouldn't be the most exciting hire but it's still a high ceiling hire. He's had some bad seasons but UNC isn't exactly a power house. I like that he didn't just hop onto Tennessee after his first season at UNC despite the money they threw at him. Shows a vision and some loyalty Him and Aranda would be fun to watch. Not the top of my list but if that is "rock bottom" for us then I think we're in good shape no matter what

I'm curious why you think he turned down a big money offer from Tennessee last year but would jump at a LSU offer this year. I'm not naive and understand things can change in a second in coaching situations, but we're being told Fedora is unlikely to go anywhere even if offered. He and his family are happy in Chapel Hill. I'm sure this post will be met with some 'Great, we don't want him anyway' responses from the majority of you who would seem disappointed in a Fedora hire. I'll say this...if he does become the next LSU coach I believe you are in for some fun years with small slip ups along the way.

Random thanks as always. If we can't get herman or jimbo I think we should keep O. See my thread above on why.

Your opinion on the caliber of coaches should be viewed in the same light as Peej storm forecasting. People like you are the reason this season was screwed from the beginning bc y'all thought Miles needed to be kept. You should GTFO of coaching threads.

I played under fedora at Air Force and he was the passing game coordinator at a triple option school. Back then, he was the cockiest person I had ever come across. I can't imagine what he would be like now and especially if he landed a job like LSU. No thanks. We can do much better.

No offense to UNC, great basketball program and decent football program, but Fedora would jump at an LSU offer. Everyone knows that, the only question is will it get to the point where LSU offers.

I've heard he's a Huge jerk

That said, I don't think that should necessarily be a negative. Just is what it is

No offense taken. It's understood we're on a different level as a program compared to LSU, but with our brand and resources we could get there. With that said, your post is likely what Tennessee fans thought until they found out they were wrong.

Saban, Petrino, Chip Kelly, Harbaugh, Urban. Pete Carrol etc etc. Most good coaches are pricks. Successful coaches who are nice, humble people are the minority.

Yeah fedora isn't in the same conversation as any of the guys you listed. Difference in being the low passing game coordinator and one of the top five coaches in the country.

Everyone has to start somewhere. He very well could be the next great coach. Saban didn't just start being a jerk when started winning ships. He was a jerk at LSU from day 1.

He would have been in his early 30's then, right? He's 54 now, so it's possible that he may have matured. That said, even if he is arrogant is that always a bad thing? Just about every college football coach is arrogant in some respect. You have to have confidence in your abilities. Some are just more vocal about it than others.

Can we? You can only get the guy who says "yes". Fisher may be better, but if he doesn't take the job, then it doesn't matter. Same for Herman.

I don't feel that anyone thinks Fedora is LSU's #1 target. However, if the other candidates say no, you have to get someone. He's done well at both S. Miss and UNC. He's a Texas native, so you would think he may have some recruiting ties to that area (which obviously is important for LSU). He's been roughly a top-35 recruiter at a school where football is clearly #2 in the athletic hierarchy. It's possible that he's a guy like Miles, and maybe even Saban. Someone who has had good success as a HC at other stops, but really takes off when dropped into a place with LSU's recruiting advantage and resources. Saban and Miles didn't set the world on fire at MSU and OSU, but they also consistently won. Fedora has done the same at S. Miss and UNC. The pipeline to Louisiana and East Texas talent is something very advantageous and unique to LSU. The last two coaches became coaching superstars because they took advantage of it.
