quote:maybe but remember petrino adapts his offense to his players very well. also, notice that other than mallett, his qb recruits have been very mobile (brandon mitchell, jacoby walker).
The type of players Meyer assembled.
They are spread option guys. Petrino would do well in a few years, sure. . .but Mullen could win with them right now.
fwiw, arkansas did run a little option with casey dick also.

He is running the same offense at Arky that he ran at UL.
He has a system, just like Meyer/Mullen, and requires specific types of players to run his system.

Please let this be true. The SEC West neighborhood will get a little less rough.
Of course, we'll still have to play the guy every year, so whatever.

quote:yeah really. of course the formations, etc are going to be similar but the schemes he runs and what he asks of his players will be different.
Not really, no
quote:really? so he just happened to coincidentally land two very mobile qbs by accident?

Petrino didn't start progressing until he got Petrino players.
When has Petrino ever succeeded with a mobile QB?
He couldn't win with Vick, either.

quote:you think we run the offense the same as when dick was qb? heck no. we've also installed a bit of pistol read-option stuff requiring a mobile qb (watched it in the spring) but do you see mallett running it? nope. he's said as much several times; what he runs depends on his players and he can adapt his system for them.
Where?
When?

My sources close to the situation are telling me this is imminent.

quote:Of course not. Your offense was limited, because Dick was limited.
you think we run the offense the same as when dick was qb?
That is not a change in scheme or an adaptation. . .it is a limitation.

Please list the mobile QB's that Petrino has had success with.

but given time he will get the players that can run the system he wants to run...Florida doesn't look much like a Petrino team right now, not sure why he would remotely be in consideration, especially with the ever-present flight risk.

A reporter out of Florida has said that Miles is on the list...the list to replace bozo the clown.

quote:you seem to think that his offense is built around a qb like mallett. if so, then why isn't he recruiting any?
Of course not. Your offense was limited, because Dick was limited.
That is not a change in scheme or an adaptation. . .it is a limitation.
quote:that's irrelevant. has nothing to do with the type of offensive scheme he wants to run. if the players he has personally recruited are any indication, he wants a system with a more mobile qb.
Please list the mobile QB's that Petrino has had success with.
regardless, brantley is more of a pocket passer anyways therefore, your argument really is irrelevant anyways. even if his system is built around a pocket qb, he would have one along with plenty of speed.

Do try harder next time.

if so, then why isn't he recruiting any?
Perhaps he is just taking what he can get?
quote:uhhhh. . . .
that's irrelevant.

quote:none will be interested if he doesn't recruit them. that's the point. notice petrino's recruiting habits with qb's. he offers very few and he's very deliberate.
Who was interested?
whether he's had success with a mobile qb doesn't prove he doesn't want to run a system with a mobile qb.

other than RB (where there would be some issues), it's not as cut and dry
brantley is not a spread option QB

Is like the report that says Mullen has already been offered, or the one where UF has already contacted Stoops?
Nothing is going to happen this early. If Petrino does go, he goes. He will have left the program in 200000000X's better shape then what he found it. That being said i don't think Petrino is UF's 1st or even 2nd option. If Mullen gets the offer he is not going to turn it down.

notice petrino's recruiting habits with qb's.
It is a habit leftover from Louisville.
