LOTS of chatter in LA this morning from influential boosters about a certain Pac-12 coach maybe on his way out this *month* and sounds like wheels are in motion already

Would Kiffen go to UCLA?
Kiffin seems like the type who would go to UCLA just for the chance to stick it in USC's eye.

Outside of location, I don’t see how UCLA is in anyway a step up from Ole Miss

He's from California.
UCLA could COULD be at the top of the Pac 12 with the right coach. You can't say that about Ole Miss.
No Alabama. No LSU. No Texas. No Oklahoma. No Auburn. No Georgia.

location is a HUGE deal in CFB. southern cal has arguably the largest pool of HS talent in the country. a solid coach can have UCLA competing for conference titles immediately, w/o nearly as much competition as compared to the SEC

it's not, but he wouldn't have as much of a talent disparity in conference.

UCLA and USC are sleeping giants IMHO. If either program finds the right person in either the AD or head coach, with the amount of talent in the L.A. basin either one could be formidable as a major player. There is a lot of talent out there. Guys like Matt Corral and Brice Young come to mind on the skill level

It's hard to believe UCLA would pull the trigger on Kelly now. With Colorado, USC, and Cal left on the schedule, they could realistically win out. Considering the time he was afforded to rebuild a competitive roster, an 8-4 finish would show significant progress.
Unless they have their own "white whale" already waiting in the wings, wanting to start over from scratch at the same time as USC doesn't make much sense to me.

Both programs have issues that run deeper than a coach or an AD can fix. Problem is they keep thinking that’s all that needs to change, or in USCs case- they really don’t care to change

I may not doubt you entirely, but elaborate. In USC's case I'm thinking they don't have some of the challenges of UCLA .

they really aren't. college football has passed them by. facility wise both would be at the bottom of other p5 conferences. they're mostly existing on past reputation

USCs administration simply doesn’t care to have an elite football program anymore. It’s been that way for a while, which is why they held on to Clay Helton for so long. They don’t want to be an SEC type of sports school that pours millions into the program and build the school around the football team, they think that is beneath them.
And UCLA has pretty terrible facilities, a pretty bad LA location relatively, with higher academic standards and will always be the second fiddle in the town.
Not to mention both reside in a conference that will need to adapt severely or die in the next couple years.

I think the money at USC may be changing their minds about this. I worked with some USC alumni and they are mad about the situation they find the program in. They really have not recovered from firing Lane Kiffin and what they saw as an overreaction by Pat Hayden.
UCLA has always had the Rose Bowl problem and no one in Westwood wants a stadium built. UCLA periodically floats the idea out for a 45,000 + stadium and the locals show up with pitchforks

He seems to be fond of that sissy blue so I guess it is likely he would consider it.
