Talk all over about Tubberville resigning by the end of the week. Blurb on sportsline about it as well.
If he does, who would Auburn go after?

We'd be completely fricked next season without Tuberville, IMO. I don't even have a clue who we'd go after...

unless he can bypass the buyout, i don't see him quitting and having to owe AU 6 mill.

Jimmy Johnson, Jon Gruden as OC, Buddy Ryan at DC
Lowder would just hand over blank checks to all of them and ask when they could start.

Ross, Tidehater - I've always had a lot of respect for Tubby, if it's possible to respect a man and want to stab him in the eye with an acid dipped screwdriver (kind of like Spurrier).
I've long thought he is the best coach in the SEC in terms of maximizing his talent.
Why in the hell would the powers that be chase him out of town?

IF HE GOES...They go after Muschamp with 2-2.5 mil (2.5 times current salary) hoping his ego and pride can't pass that up.

Part of the Process.
In all seriousness, I don't see Tubberville leaving. I think he's back for at least another year. He's had more success than any other coach in Auburn notwithstanding Dye and his SEC championships in the 80's. He's earned the right to turn things around and he's too good of a coach to let go after one subpar season. My opinion anyhow.

Why would Jacobs leak that the end of season meeting went well, and that Tubby has laid out a plan for improvement? I think Auburn is smart enough to realize that the number of high profile jobs and escalating salaries are going to make the short-term hiring of anybody good tough.
The only thing I can think is that Auburn could offer Muschamp a HC gig now, instead of having to wait for Mack to retire/die.

If he's resigning, I'm pretty sure it's because he got an offer from another school and is just jumping the Auburn sinking ship. He's not paying that buyout.

Why does John Gruden's name always show up in everybody's list. If he hasn't left Tampa by now I don't think its gonna happen

Since the 'barn is obsessed with offense these days, Hal Mumme just got clipped by New Mexico State. I am sure if they promise the MF'er enough towels to place all over himself while he is on the field, he would be more than happy to head for the cow college on the plains

Probably would still pay him is my guess, because of the 10 years he has given AU, has beeen pretty awesome IMO
6 straight over bama, 13-0 one season..
Tubbs is a great coach
He is missing some depth and players right now
I see Saban only making that harder for anyone at AU
Maybe Kelly comes to AU?

Tubs only leaves for the entire buyout. There is no way he leaves on his own terms with the money there is on the table.
If I am AU I have to seriously ask myself who we can get before I push him out. Petrino? Doubtful. Kelly? Doubtful (he wants ND). Bad move.

you're right. Tommy T. holds the leverage. he makes 2.8m/yr, get's a 200k raise/yr. + if Aubie buys out the contract they'll owe 3m within 30 days, and another 3m within 3 yrs.
the kicker is the buyout amount would not be adjusted... even if Tubs takes another job.

WJOX(Bham station) is reporting that people close to the situation, that Tubbs will step down.

saw that too.

Well-respected WJOX morning host and former Auburn player Al Del Greco apparently indicated that based on his conversations with some Auburn assistant coaches, they felt that Tuberville would not be retained. He did NOT report, to my knowledge, that Tuberville had been fired. Just wanted to clarify that point.
