I would take this guy in a heartbeat. I dont care how many cigars he smoked in Tiger Stadium. I watched him win at Ole Miss while on probation. Basically won with scrubs. He can coach and run a program

If he gets $3.65 to leave

I thought the $3.65 was something like an annuity payment for being there for so long, regardless of where he ran off to. Kind of like Miles -- he has a 5-year annuity clause that will pay him $1MM, I believe.

Tubby has a pretty sweet problem. Agree in Principle, but wait to sign anything until after this weekend, just to be sure there isn't something a little better out there.

He still has that $6 million buyout in his current contract and no way in hell is anyone going to pay that.

Here is a thought:

IF Tubby is really interested in the LSU job, the ONLY way he is going to get it is to somehow reduce that HUGE buyout in his current contract.

Maybe these current negotiations with Auburn involves reducing the size of his buyout to a more reasonable figure in exchange for the extension??

Two comments: IF the 7 year deal holds up & the contract signed, so much for Tubby being afraid of Saban. The last time I looked, Tubby has 4 more fingers to fill. The other: do not forget who his agent is and how he works one side against the other to raise the pot for his clients. It works, but it also has nothing to do with loyalty to a school or team.

Tuberville is from Camden. That is closer to S'Port than Fayetteville. He also played college ball at Southern Arkansas. Doesn't appear he has any real connection to the Razorbacks.

You hit the nail on the head.....there's a LOT of wiggle room in the words "agree in principle". If Tubbs thinks the LSU job is available for him, he'll run, not walk, to Baton Rouge. If it's not available, he's going to Fayetteville.

Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville and athletic director Jay Jacobs did not meet Wednesday as expected. Tuberville was out of the office and not expected to return.

Apparently, there are still contractual matters and other issues on the table. With Tuberville scheduled to leave town Thursday, it is uncertain when a things will be finally resolved.

Yes he is an effective coach and has been at Ole Miss and Aubarn. But TT is the antiTiger and is not of LSU.
