Truth is that O needs to prove he is a legit head coach at a lower school

Before he can eliminate his failure at Ole Miss at this point. Much more goes into being a head coach than during a season and O has yet to prove he can do that.

If hefound a way to beat Bama and make the playoffs, he would've merited consideration on that. He did not and so He needs to realize as do many of his diehards that he needs to go somewhere else lower tier to prove himself before being handed a big time job.

He's proving he can win at LSU. That's all that matters

with someone else's staff and team

giving a team a 6-8 week shot in the arm is not the same thing as maintaining a program year over year.

Ummmm. There is a difference between being an interim coach and actually fully running a program. It gives some insight but means nothing in his ability to make the decisions to win long term.

He's proven he can win at USC and LSU and took Bama to the end w/o a legit QB. I don't think he CAN prove anything more

The O hire is predicated on his supposedly bringing in some top notch OC. We have zero evidence to suggest he will be good at identifying and hiring a good OC, who can install a system that will work at LSU, and who will recruit and develop qb's. This is in part why coach O is such a huge risk. There are other candidates who have proven themselves in these areas.

Exactly the OP's point. He cant prove he deserves this job this year. He needs to take a lesser HC job first.

He's beaten Missouri, Southern Miss, Ole Miss, and Arkansas. shite might as well put him in HoF after taking down that murderer's row.

Exactly - O has had success as an interim HC at USC and LSU with the tools already in place. Unfortunately, his only resume as an actual HC, where he had to build a staff and a team, was a dismal failure. There are reasons why he has not been given a chance as a HC since Ole Miss, whatever they may be. He is a fantastic position coach and recruiter and might have learned, but LSU needs a proven head coach with an offensive pedigree, not an ongoing experiment.

Duh, but the dummies want to put LSU in the position of being a lower tier school.
