Maybe we can have 1 thread on here that isn't a flame fest.
From my perspective it looks like what happened was that Saban was waiting to see what the Texas offer was so he could take it back to Bama and have them beat it. He's probably going to get 7 or 8 million with this deal but might have been able to push that to 10 or more if Texas had thrown the bank at him. Apparently Texas is going to keep Mack (horrible idea) for one more year and once that came out Saban just signed the deal. Anyone disagree?
I think the debt stuff, if true (and i'm not saying it is because there was no hard evidence of it) would have been the only way he would have seriously considered leaving.

His contract was thru 2019. Probably extended 2 more years, to put him at Bama until 2021.

Sounds like he verbally agreed, but didn't sign. Could be a tactical move to force UT's hand one way or another, either fire MB or keep him. Shite or get off the pot. Genius move.
