As of right now, Dana is on the top of my list.

Who would QB Gus' system?

I've got a question: Why are we assuming that Miles wants a strictly pro-style offensive coordinator?

Crowton's first year here was nothing like a pro-style offense. Only due to the weakness of our quarterbacks, have we shifted to a more run-oriented offense with more pro sets. We still run plays out of the shotgun, I'd say, at least 50% of the time. There's no evidence that a spread offense wouldn't work for LSU, because it has worked in the past.

Miles is not a spread guy. You can also look at the personnel we have recruited and are recruiting. Combine those facts and that is why people assume we are going in that direction.

2007 was a mix of the two and it worked because Flynn had actually been coached by a real QB coach prior to Crowton arriving. Crowton's total inability to coach his position is one of the main reasons he is an ineffective coordinator.

I think it is obvious miles is tired of that offense. For one, he is going to implement a pro package no matter what. LSU's major problem with QB play is no identity. You have a pro style QB and a dual threat. LSU's recruiting has been for a system with no identity three straight years. How can you recruit for a system like that? LSU has small WRs now, with big. Small scat backs with big. We'll have 5 "power" backs on our roster next year. It only makes sense to go to a pro set. I think it is obvious Crowton's scheme conflicted with Miles. Miles probably wanted certain things called one way and Crowton another. With a pro set, it probably would be the best, especially with all the power backs we have and big oline.

LSU needs a identity on offense. I think a spread can work with our athletes but you need a certain kind...

Malazhan's offense would need to be altered compared to what he runs at AU.

If we go pro set, I'd love a guy with heavy emphasis on play action and teach it heavily to our QBs on how to hide it. JJ is horrible with his play action. He needs learn how to put it in their belly to make a defense freeze...

The interesting thing will be if we go pro, how will guys like RS and Gore fit in? A spread can work, IMO but like I said, it needs to be a certain style with our RBs. I could see a two RB system where RS/Gore are pure outside runners and the power guys purely middle. A Read option could work with JJ I guess but it won't be on Newton's level. Problem with that is you have no dual threat QB behind JJ, so why would you risk a entire system just on him?

There's just one problem with this list. Les Miles ain't firing his OC coming off a 10-2 season. Just keep dreaming guys. Nothing is changing!

I would be completely fine with Bobo.

Also, I would like to nominate Cignetti for the list.

I would be willing to bet just about anything that something does change.

Hate to break it to you, but you got it backwards. 2007 was almost entirely pro-style, with the pistol formation added to the playbook.

2008 was a lof of I-formation with Scott, and the frequent 5 wide look with Lee.

2009-2010 was a lot of read-option with Jefferson. Most of our runs are either handoffs from the shotgun or toss plays from under center. As time progresses, we see more and more of Crowton's offense and his version of the spread.

07 had a lot of shotgun 1 back and 5 wide looks too. it was a pretty diverse offense.

Only 2 tops targets in my book.

Steve Logan- current RB coach for Tampa Bay. OC and QB coach for Boston College and Matt Ryan, and successful 10 year HC at East Carolina.

Al Borges - very strong Auburn record of winning, doing great job at SD State.

Both would bring pro style offenses and good QB develop abilities.

Anyone have the stats as far as Auburn's offensive rankings while he was there? I seem to remember his offense being pretty stagnant his last couple of years at AU.

indeed it was. But 5 wide doesn't mean it's a spread offense. 2008 was more of a pro-style offense than 2009-2010 as well.

Why not? The offense is the reason we lost those two games, not the reason we won the other ten.

You can say the same thing about Miles. He's the reason they lost 2 games and almost lost several more. However, he ain't getting fired even though he should. Why? Because LSU won 10 games. If you don't think that will be a big factor in end of the year coaching decisions you're just setting yourself up for a big let down. Crowton will be LSU's OC next season, unless he leaves of his own free will.
