Thoughts on Mike Elston for LSU DL coach?

He's been Kelly's DL coach and recruiting coordinator at Central Michigan, Cincy and ND. Still only 49.
He's now the DL coach and RC at Michigan. Maybe he becomes available with the Michigan scandal. He is a Michigan alum so he might be a hard pull, but he's been with Kelly for such a long time he may be able to bring him back.

If I recall when we originally hired Kelly, the Hope was that we signed him, but it didn't appear like there was interest on his side.

I’d rather see someone come in with ties to the south. Recruiting is not going well and this dline hire needs to be a home run. I’d make a hard run at the guy from a&m.

I don’t think ties to the south is that important. La kids that are good usually get a “all hands on deck” approach, plus you get the hometown boost. Mississippi is never an easy place to get a kid from, Alabama - same. Texas, Georgia and Florida are send plenty of kids OOS, but it’s battle grounds that you aren’t going to build a pipeline to.
Jamarr Cain did a fine job recruiting nationally here, which is what was needed. He had some bad luck that broke apart some of his class but he was a guy that was going to land some talent every year. They really screwed up House push him out.

Right now it looks like he'll be the next aTm HC.
