1) Herbstreit MUST have confirmed this info with a good source, i.e. Desmond Howard who is not only his colleague at Espn but ON THE MICHIGAN SEARCH COMMITTEE
2) So the deal was ready to go through but LSU has tried to make Miles "an offer he can't refuse", i.e., Here's some absurdly lucrative contract (highest paid coach in football or something) if you sign the dotted line before 4pm. If you don't you're fired effective immediately.

How great would it be if Desmond told Herby and was doing it to get back at a OSU rival.

I'd tell the TAF to think about what they are doing with regards of giving Miles the offer he can't refuse.

if we make Les the highest paid coach in the nation without an NC to his name then we are a freaking joke.

Yeah, that's pretty nuts. Can't imagine that'd be too big of a distraction.

The idea seems to be that Martin only plays by the book and since he promised he wouldn't talk to Miles till after the SECCG then he won't. But this, IMHO, is BS. Martin made $50 million as a business man. If he allowed himself to lose his guy because of some ridiculous "principle" rather than some real legal issue, especially if Bertman is railroading Miles, then he wouldn't have made $50 million in business. Plus, clearly Miles and his agent have been contacted through intermediaries and the deal can be sweatened if necessary. But we'll see...

I can't fault Miles for leaving. Dream job, Bo, yadda yadda.

But the situation has been handled miserably. This mismanagement cost us the Arkansas game due to poor preparation as the result of lack of focus by the coaches, costing us a shot at the NC. It will likely cost us the SECCG as well.

I cannot blame the coaches. They do what employees do. They shop better deals. Cold hard fact of modern sports.

I blame Bertman for allowing it to happen.

Here's a "non-coaches-speak" declaration:

I will not attend another LSU sporting event while Skip Bertman is AD.

Out.
