NFL success doesn't always transition into college success.

yeah, and bouncing around for 30 years in mid-majors speaks volumes about his potential

and he did a damn good job at Texas, he consistently produced NFL talent, esp in the DB area

Robinson is a soft zone guy, zones defenses work alot better in the NFL, because you have more time to practice then and lets be honest, when you get right down to it who is fooling anybody in the NFL they all do the same thing offensively anyway.

He was the CO-defensive coordinator at Texas. He didn't run the whole show. Plus I remember those Kansas City teams he coached, particularly in 2003, of having no defense whatsoever. Plus I have heard he is a soft-zone guy, which is not what we need.

I know it might not matter to some but the fact that he coached at military schools gives that disciplinarian presents. Discipline is what we need on defense... Look at Paul Johnsons GT team, very discipline!

TCU has not allowed more than 14 points all season except against OU who scored 35 on them. 35 points from OU is pretty good performance by a defense considering they have scored 60 for 4 straight games.

Bumpus has the #1 defense in the country - playing in a conference that slings it all over the field.

Robinson just got fired for running Syracuse into the group and was only a co-DC at UT.

I can tell you this, if my first name was richard and my last name was Bumpas. I would never chose dick as a nickname. Just saying, shows lack of judgment.

Bcs they want a big name like Saban or Mushchamp, but they all started somewhere small. And one is a head coach and the other will be one soon!

At TC freaking U - what sort of measuring stick is that???

no doubt - the man is awful at being a head coach - but that doesnt take away the fact that of the possible, available names out there right now, he is by far and away the best candidate.

was only a co-DC at UT.
unlike at LSU, where we dont really know who's running what - there was no doubt at UT who was controlling the entire defense. Akina's title was simply that, a title so they could pay him more money.

Bumpas is the flavor of the month and you guys are being dazzled by a one-hit-wonder. What happens next year when Miami OH D-cood turns in the #1 defense? or Idaho? do we go after him then?

There isnt one single thing in Bumpas' resume to think that he's ready to take over the D in this program. D-line, sure - but to run the defense, no stinking way.

Bumpas has been on the top of the rivals rankings for like the entire season. The fact that the list is simply a popularity contest speaks volumes for Bumpas being on top of some of the best DCs in the nation.
