It wasn't really based on that, it was based on the fact that he apparently impressed everyone with his presentation, and that negotiations with Fisher had broken down the Wednesday before the Florida game. The way it was told to me was that they were simply hoping he'd beat Florida to make it easier.

That tweet doesn't help them. It shows they were lazy and didn't consider any plan b, C, d, etc. options. It makes them look unprepared and incompetent. If they surveyed the entire football landscape and determined that O was THE best coach for LSU then god bless them.

The way to get a new HC is to hire one of the firms that handles this process. If LSU was too cheap to do that and just decided to go after Herman and Jimbo with O as the Plan B, then, that IS on the LSU AD.
