The sooner you all accept the fact that he's going to Texas the better off you'll be.

Texas is a big mess. It takes some time to cleanse the Degree of shite that has plagued that program. We are talking lack of institutional control shite.. they had a few players that were drug dealers. It was bad, and I don't have any doubt problems still exist.

Herman's wife is a gold digger. She would love Austin and look down on Br. Carl is right. Austin can never compete with Baton Rouge on QOL. Never

theres a reason Herbstreit called Texas football a cesspool a few weeks ago. imagine 10 Jerry Jones' in one room. thats what a meeting of the UT boosters is like. their arrogance and endless meddling have held the program back for decades, thats not gonna change now.

they have everything a program could ever hope for, but only 1 title since 1970, and it took a generational QB to carry them to that.

much like Notre Dame, all the behind the scenes drama makes Texas way more trouble than its worth. keep in mind that Hermans last boss turned Notre Dame down for that very reason when he was at Utah. Texas better hope Herman doesnt ask Urban for his advice.

I agree for normal people thus is true, but is it that different for the filth rich?

There was so much talk about Saban wanting to come back to Baton Rouge and get out of Miami, I don't know if there's any truth to that, but that's what people were saying. And he still left there for Tuscaloosa.

No state taxes in Texas, but property taxes are high.

Pretty different for the elite society crowd. Austin has a combo of old and new money. And Austin blows Baton Rouge away in many fronts from better golf courses, communities, schools, outdoor activities. Their high society crowd has Hollywood folks that left Hollywood for Austin. I know Baton Rouge natives get butt hurt when people talk down Baton Rouge especially when it's compared to Austin. I lived in both, still live in Austin and would never ever move back to BR.

Miami is its own thing. I could see a lot of people not liking Miami and somehow liking BR or Tuscaloosa more even if they are a big city type of person.

Miami has a "scene" and if you aren't into it I can imagine it being pretty lonely/miserable

Well said and I echo everything . I would actually take 10 Jerry Jones over their top boosters. It's bad and some of them are borderline psychotic. Herman being he got his grad degree from UT should know this. I know this and I have lived here going on 11 years. Their new money Tx ex folks are about as obnoxious of a group out there. You have boosters that would walk up on the practice field demanding talks with Charlie. Mack brown still has his thumb on the program too. If Herman takes this Job, it will be because his emotions defied his logic and his gold digger wife made a demand for Austin. And I agree with your last point completely, Meyer would talk him out of the Texas gig and he would say go to BR, you would be a king there.

All you people who think these coaches are scared of Saban and Bama don't know a damn thing about a good or even potential great coaches competitive drive. Competing against him and the likes of the SEC west drives and intrigues them. It doesn't scare them.

You wouldn't. They did. They fired him with no sure thing on the line.

Would they have kept him if the WR had gone out of bounds instead of pushing for two more yards? if there were 3 seconds left, LSU wins. Les is still coaching.

I don't know how true this is -

quote:

Meanwhile, the cupboard is generally bare from a talent perspective

UT Recruiting Ranking (24/7 composite)

2016 - 7th nationally
2015 - 10th nationally
2014 - 16th nationally
2013 - 17 nationally

They've improved every year under Strong's tenure. They aren't doing great in the current class (60th) but I imagine that the uncertainty over who the coach will be next year is playing in to that.

LSU DEFINITELY has the more talented roster. But it's not like UT is Fresno State or something.

Houston last 4 classes -

2016 - 36th nationally
2015 - 92nd nationally
2014 - 76th nationally
2013 - 56th nationally

Herman is looking at a huge talent upgrade no matter which job he chooses to take. If he takes one of them.

If you're Herman, you have to like Dave Aranda already being here. You have a stacked cupboard talent wise (OL being the only weak spot), and maybe the best defensive coordinator on staff, who is also a close acquaintance.

Baton Rouge sucks, but that's awesome, because you'll have less distractions from coaching.

He also has to see that Bama is not in Texas's division.

Just stop. As long as Saban is there, any Championship must go through Alabama. Whether you play them in the SEC West or the Playoffs, you'll have to play them. I don't see any evidence that Herman is another Bobby Bowden wanting to be the big fish in the small pond at Texas.

Herman's perspective:

1.) Money;
2.) Current state of the program.

Texas wins on point 1., LSU on point 2. A big-time competitive football coach does not give a rat's arse about a location's quality of life. And when his wife looks at the money involved with any move, she will be happy.

This in spades. And they will be living in one of the nicest sections of BR. Austin is a grand city, one of the best in USA. But it is ridiculous to have this self loathing of BR by our eerrr. fans and Tiger brethren. It ain't nearly that bad and y'all know it.

I'm not sure a lot of you have ever been to Austin. As much as we all may love Baton Rouge(mainly due to the school we've rooted for our whole lives being located there), it just can't compete with Austin in terms of quality of life. For someone that already is professionally rooted in Texas, it's a no-brainer.

Absolutely - Austin is in a beautiful area. It has attracted a lot of left wing radical California-types but you can get away from them if you want.

I am intimately familiar with both BR and Austin. It would take huge amounts of $$$ differential to get me to live in BR (absent my personal devotion to LSU) as opposed to Austin. If Herman has any personal loyalty to UT, then there is no way he will not take that gig - and LSU certainly cannot outbid UT.

What offsets your talent argument is the level of competition. The SEC West/Sabanworld is FAR more daunting than the Big 12........

As someone said as well Austin>>>>>>>>>>Baton Rouge and it ain't close at all.
