Things we don't know about Jimbo.

1. What is the situation between he, his ex-wife and child custody? How would moving from Tally to Baton Rouge affect all of this? Would she move to BR too? Would Jimbo want her to move to BR, or would he prefer she stay in Tally? What do his kids think about him moving? Do they want him to move away from their mom? Etc. etc. etc.

2. What is Jimbo's relationship with his AD and with his administration and with the boosters?

3. What is the stability of the AD at LSU? What is the relationship between the LSU boosters and the athletic department? Will they donate their money and stay out of the way, or will they meddle?

4. Is Bama really Jimbo's dream job and has he talked to Saban and has some assurance that Saban is close to retiring (or maybe even going to Texas)?

Note: I'm not saying #4 is even remotely likely. Just saying that none of us know all the "extra stuff" that goes into a major decision. We look at money, at the football programs (ACC vs. SEC, having to play Bama every year, wanting to play Bama every year, recruiting, budget, infrastructure, et. al.). But we have no idea about all the non-football issues that weigh heavily on any decision.

For all I know, Jimbo could be unbelievably happy at FSU and he and his AD are having a big laugh about all the speculation. For all I know, Jimbo may absolutely hate working at FSU and can't wait to jump on the first big time job that comes open.

The final decision on whether to leave or stay will come down to non-football related issues. And, I doubt very seriously if anybody posting on any message board knows the answer to those non-football questions.

But, it is fun to speculate and guess.

My guess is he's headed west on I-10.

This is my concern IF we don't get Jimbo. Insult to injury that Bama is the school to pony up and get him.

idk, but he's 65 and it's not hard to imagine he'd be on their list and get the recommendation of Saban. They won't be pussies about flinging around $7 million to get him either. So getting/not getting Jimbo has potentially two times the benefit/detriment to LSU.

I'm not so sure Jimbo is over the fact they nuked his deal at UAB. From what I've heard his interest in LSU is the opposite: he wants the rivalry with Saban & Bama because of the UAB incident.

Sabah has several years left and bama ain't making a move till he's retiring. By then jumbo could be here or somewhere else. Dabo wants that bama job very badly.

My mistake. I just threw this out there as an example of maybe something that no one knows. I could have dreamed up some other outlandish example.

The point I so poorly tried to make is the fact that a lot of things, which none of us know anything about, go into making a decision. Something may seem unbelievably logical (from a football perspective, or from a money perspective) to an outsider while it looks completely different to the guy actually making the decision.

Are some of the fans getting fed up with Jimbo constantly being linked to the LSU job? It just seems strange that a coach being paid that much looks elsewhere two years in a row.

Also, why do you think he didn't get a raise last year? I just wonder what his motives are for keeping up the lines of communication.

TIA

Jimbo was going to be the head coach at UAB. Had the contract etc. Paul Bryant Jr, had the deal nuked because Saban wanted Fisher as OC and ultimately offered him the OC position at Bama - after Jimbo's contract was not approved by the Bama BOT. Jimbo declined. UAB's program was then taken down piecemeal over a few years by the Bama BOT & ultimately shut down only to be reinstated.
