Spinning off of Random's post. The idea that the decision makers are worried about "getting in a bidding war" with these two over Herman is a bad omen in and of itself. That is a loser's mentality. It's not the mentality that elite programs making elite level hires (Michgian, Ohio State, Alabama for recent history) have. To have that kind of attitude, you better not scratch your head when LSU is consistently 9-3/8-4 and you're losing money because that 100k stadium you renovated isn't full every single Saturday. The ONLY reason for that to be an acceptable thought process is if you already have your elite hire locked up, i.e. Jimbo. However, if they have that attitude toward Herman and are still "ironing out" metrics with Jimbo, prepare to be disappointed.

If they don't go after Herman because they didn't want to get into a bidding war, it will sum up this LSU regime completely.

Alleva and Co. is all talk, no bite. Always talking the talk and saying what fans want to hear but never actually going through with anything.

If they value both coaches the same, why would they waste time going after the one they are going to have to pay more for? Why wouldn't you take the easier path if you're getting the same value?

If we start playing with that mentality we better make parking free and lower tickets. I'm not paying over 3000 a year to watch a team that accepts failure. LSU fans are tired of the administration taking advantage of us. Gone are the days of waiting lists.. This year season tickets could be had by anyone. this was a year of optimism. If they don't deliver then filling a 100k seat stadium is going to be difficult.

If I'm reading the tea-leaves, here, I think Jimbo Fisher is the #1 target.

If you're going after Fisher, maybe you don't want Fisher thinking you're trying to bid on Herman while negotiations are ongoing?

Just my speculation, of course, but perhaps that's what we're seeing right now.

He's my number 1 but I understand that jimbo might be allevas top guy. It makes sense.

If they are targeting a coach based on a bunch of requirements jimbo and Herman tick off a hell of a lot of boxes on everyone's list.

I don't think what Random said is accurate. We've heard all along that money wouldn't be an issue in hiring a coach. Getting Jimbo out of Tallahassee is surely going to be more expensive than getting Herman

Doesn't sound like a loser's mentality. Sounds like the checkbook isn't as big as believed on here.

No blank check, no Brinks truck. When y'all wrap your head around that, you can be happier.

Or get off of this site and go make some coin for the program.

Jimbo will be a $50mm deal

Getting into bidding war with Texas and Oregon for Herman is not ideal, too many unknowns on Herman and too much rich desperation from UT and UO

Fisher is a much safer play for Alleva for that kind of money

Herman will not make more than what we're allegedly offering Jimbo.
