Funny, I'm sick of fans talking about coaches who have proven incapable of guiding a program. That's below flash in the pan.

the literal definition of Ed Orgeron.
Touche! You could be right. I'm just waiting for the season to play out.

I won't ever be convinced Tom Herman is a tier 1 coach until he proves himself at a P5 school. I'm more impressed with Fuente at this point.

Fisher is #1 for me.

Who? Who is running a program at the highest level year in and year out for an extended period of time that is available to hire? I just want to know who yall are referring to.

Tom Herman is most definitely not a flash in the pan

me too. but not for your reasons. I think Houston's recent downward trend could very well have to do with his team pretty much knowing he's gone.

Also, if you're at a non P5 school, and have beaten some big P5 schools, that's gotta count for something.

I also really like what he did with the offense at OSU. Beat bama with a 3rd string QB and Meyer has all but admitted he let Herman run the show on O.

I want Fisher because I think LSU would be his last stop.

I'm not a #nevercoachO, so to speak, just saying if LSU has the opportunity to get a guy like Jimbo Fisher you say sorry Coach O but we found someone more qualified, that's all.

LOL Ole Miss? You're judging a guy based on that? That's like judging a race car driver based on him driving a Camaro and ignoring how he's doing driving the Ferrari.

I don't know why you're putting words in my mouth. All I've said is I'd like a proven HC. One that has had to hire his own assistants, recruit his own players, and develop those players.

I don't need some seasoned veteran coming in. But O went 0-8 in conference his last year as a real HC. His teams records got worse every. single. year.

We have the same thought process on this

Just saying it would be a shame in a hypothetical scenario when Jimbo Fisher is willing to come, but Alleva gets pressured by fan sentiment to O... sound familiar?

Well you responded to me asking that question to the OP, so, you put those words in your mouth or you took it out of context, one or the other.

Oh, I agree with you. You can't deny Jimbo Fisher. He's absolutely proven and a good fit. I would hire him over O for sure.

Ole Miss isn't frickin' Louisiana Lafayette. And it's not like he had so-so season.

the man went frickin 10-25 at Ole Miss. TEN AND TWENTY FIVE.

Freeze has a phenomenal record compared to O. At the same school. Would you want LSU to hire Freeze? Keep in mind, Ole Miss is is a Camaro, and he's won a couple of races vs Ferraris in that Camaro!

Out of context, then. I certainly don't think we need a Bobby Bowden to coach LSU. Just someone who actually didn't finish .286 in his last real HC job.

I really have to wonder at this point if we are even talking to Jimbo, or if the admin have already decided if O at least hangs in with Bama, he's the guy.

Did worse than the person before him, Cutcliffe, and the person succeeding him, Nutt. Now Freeze has decent success. LSU should get the best coach it possibly can is all I'm saying.

Exactly. Every goddamn fanbase in America wants LSU to hire O. Just for the opposite reasons.

That should be pretty telling.

I didn't say anything about O, I'm just saying no one really meets the criteria the OP mentioned. People who have proven to run a program at the highest possible level for a long period of time aren't out there available to hire. Jimbo is the only one that comes to mind, but I could easily be missing someone.
