So the next OC will be someone with no play calling experience?

You have to imagine if he's bringing mangus then Callaway is sol on a big boy job. We can't put all the coaches on offense. What if the DC is a secondary guy, we have an analyst coach linebackers?

It’s a guess, but I think you have it backwards. Callaway will be PGC/QB Coach and Mangus would take his spot as the lead Offensive Analyst. That’s a notch higher then Mangus was here last year. I’m pretty sure Munoz was ahead of him in the pecking order.

Here's some info on Peetz: Jake Peetz was named Carolina's quarterbacks coach under new head coach Matt Rhule in January 2020. He spent the 2019 season with the Panthers as running backs coach, helping Christian McCaffrey put together a record-breaking season. Peetz has 10 years of NFL experience, spending time with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2008-12), Washington Redskins (2014) and Oakland Raiders (2015-17).

Under Peetz's guidance, McCaffrey became the third player in NFL history with over 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in the same season. He led the NFL with 2,392 scrimmage, the third-most scrimmage yards in a single season in NFL history. McCaffrey reset his own NFL record for most receptions by a running back with 116 in 2019, becoming just the second NFL player with 1,000+ rushing yards and 100+ receptions in the same season.

In 2018, Peetz served as an offensive analyst at Alabama under head coach Nick Saban, a position Peetz also held in 2013. The Crimson Tide led all SEC teams last season with 522.0 yards per game and 45.6 points per game.

Peetz coached quarterbacks in his final two seasons in Oakland (2016-17), serving as assistant quarterback coach in 2016 and quarterbacks coach in 2017. Raiders quarterback Derek Carr earned two of his three consecutive Pro Bowl selections working with Peetz. Peetz originally joined the team as a senior offensive assistant in 2015, working primarily with the running backs. He helped Latavious Murray earn Pro Bowl honors after rushing for 1,066 yards and six touchdowns, the first 1,000-yard rushing season by a Raider since 2010.

Peetz spent one year with Washington as the offensive quality control/assistant wide receivers coach in 2014. In his one season working with Peetz, Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson led the NFL with an average of 20.9 yards per reception and led the team with 1,169 receiving yards.

His NFL coaching career began in 2012 as Jacksonville's offensive assistant/assistant quarterbacks coach. Before joining the team's coaching staff, he worked in scouting, serving as the team's BLESTO scout in 2010-11 after starting as a scouting assistant in 2008.

Peetz began his coaching career with two years on the collegiate level at Santa Barbara City College (2006) and UCLA (2007).

Peetz played defensive back at Nebraska from 2003-05 prior to entering the coaching ranks.

Doing a little research.

Josh McDaniels wanted Peetz to go with him to Indy.

If McDaniels likes him, it’s hard for me not to like him. Say what you want about Daniels, he has a great offensive mind.

Carr made pro bowl from 2015-17. Peetz was on staff from 15-17. Coincidence?

Meh. Not that I think mangus is worth a shite but I doubt he'd move back and out from under daddy Brady for such a minor move. I think people got so worked up over Callaway touching Max Johnson's shoulder pads twice that they've dreamed up this we have to promote him immediately or he'll be the head coach of Alabama tomorrow dream scenario.

That's my thought.

Mangus as a lead analyst and Peetz/Calloway/QBs right hand man in the film room.

Mangus called W&M and was poor.

Calloway was awesome at calling an offense.

Peetz has never done it.

Peetz is a guy on the way up, but I’m not so sure Mangus isn’t being told to find another home in this scenario. Carolina will likely make some changes on the offensive staff after their struggles this year.

What has Mangus done to justify a position on the field? Say what you want about Callaway, but he’s got some skins on the wall at the D1 level. He’s more qualified today.

ETA: Shea says Mangus is interviewing for PGC, so we’ll see.

They lost arguably the best non-QB offensive player in the league this season, are lacking in talent at other skill positions, have a weak OL, and have a temporary Teddy Bridgewater at QB.

Their best offensive player this year was their kicker.

And it was a COVID year with limited camp and no pre-season to install the new offense.

I think they did just fine

especially considering Mangus sucking arse as more than an analyst.

Care to elaborate? I am under the impression that Mangus has never had the opportunity to be more than an analyst. Am I missing something?

He was the OC at William and Mary and had a pretty rough go of it by the numbers.
