I think he's a burnout at this point, and doesn't have the energy any more. If he stays, he won't reach the pinnacle he's been at the last four years.

Except that he is about the land the best recruiting class in the history of recruiting rankings...
Your post makes no sense...
But for a fluke play against a peaking team on the road, he is coaching in the national title and this board is a whole lot less used at the moment.

He looks old and tired to me. You can see it in his face and body language, and you can hear it in his voice. Those recruits are coming in based on his past body of work.
And I think the game is starting to pass him by, and he's too set in his ways to adapt any more--his complaining about the new offenses, for example.

These guys do burn out from trying to stay at the top. Urban Meyer, Spurrier, Skip Bertman, etc. its much more fun and rewarding to rebuild a program than to try to keep one contending every year. That's the only reason i could see Saban leaving, but i think he's too old to start over so i think he stays at Bama through the end of his contract and then retires. But anyone would at least consider the UT job if they came calling.

Yep. Not many teams can lose 1 of their 2 hard games, even skip the conference championship game, and get to play for a NC

Why is Bertman included in that? He coached at LSU from 1984-2001. That is a hell of a tenure.
He was so burnt out that he won his 6th NC in his 17th season then went on to be AD until 2008.

I don't get what makes you think this? I understand LSU fans are Saban experts but what points to this for you? I understand he lost one game and obviously that means he's burnt out...but please explain.

You're out of your mind. If the playoffs started this year, Nick Saban would be competing for his third straight NC and would be favored to win it.
He's the coach of the one team in the country that will always get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to a wild card selection.
His recruiting class is about to be off the charts good almost to the point where he can line up, play base defense, run up the middle, throw a play action pass or two, and win by 30+ against most of his opponents. (See Virginia Tech and Ole Miss of this year).
Not only that, his recruiting class is yanking high quality players from other schools around the country that can compete with him.
As much as I love Gus and believe he has Auburn on the path to a great run in college football, I'm not stupid enough to think that Gus will compete on the same consistent level as Saban. As an Auburn fan, I'm really hoping that the coal miner's son leaves for Texas.

with these retirement rumors floating, his reaction to the LSU win makes a lot more sense now
