The Mike Denbrock Coaching File: Calling Baton Rouge

quote:

Most recently, Denbrock was at Notre Dame from 2010-16 in a variety of roles. He coached tight ends (2010-11), outside receivers and was the passing game coordinator (2012-13), served as offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach (2014) and was the associate head coach and wide receivers coach (2015-16). During his second stint with the Fighting Irish, Denbrock coached in six bowl games, including the 2012 BCS National Championship.

quote:

Known as a dynamic recruiter, Denbrock is a strong offensive mind who had success as the Irish’s primary play caller the past two seasons. The offense averaged 443 yards per game and close to seven yards per play over a 25-game span. In 2012, he was tabbed as one of the top 25 recruiters in the nation by Rivals.com and one of country's top 50 recruiters by 247Sports.com.

The man has been good enough to be an OC for both Kelly and Fickell. Denbrock may soon be the OC in Baton Rouge.

Only idiots think he wouldn’t be a good hire because it’s not “exciting” whatever the hell that means

Watch the dumbasses jump on here to judge him solely on the 2012 championship game.

Excellent post, but you just sent out an alarm and the rantards will soon flock here to tell you why CBK is wrong to hire him.

Did Kelly fire him at Notre Dame? Or at least demote him? He was OC in 2014 the Asst HC/WR the next.

I think these two stick out as well and shows he's well-rounded.

He demoted him. They Denbrock left to be OC at Cincy after 2015.

Yea. 2012 will have been 10 years ago lmao.

He may have been a hot assistant then and a dynamic recruiter.

But Kelly demoted him at ND which is why he left for Cincinnati.

It would be a completely uninspired hire.

Realistically we know Kelly is going to meddle in the offense, and call some plays. It was why Rees said he didn’t want to come to LSU. So the OC doesn’t need to be a world beater, but hopefully something more exciting than Denbrock

I'm beginning to like the idea of this hire more and more. I'm afraid to get my hopes up though.

Rantards: "nooooo, Brian Kelly is bad, should've gone after Fickell"

Also Rantards: "Why do we want FIckell's offensive coordinator? He hasn't done anything"

It’s coach Kelly’s offense.

Mike Dembrock will run coachKelly’s offense/plays.

New OCs will come and go, but coach Kelly will command the playbook, strategy, verbiage, etc.

That is not why Rees did not come to LSU. HE did an interview and specifically said it is ahrd to leave ND because he played there and his while family is an hour away.
