dos, if anything, Sexton (I think that is his agent) will get Jimbo a big raise...if not this year, then next year if he does well again...

I second this potential hire: Gary Pinkel, Mizzou. Unlike most of the other head coaches mentioned on this thread, I think Pinkel is someone LSU could actually get (unlike Saban, Patterson, Tedford, Meyer, Fisher, Ferentz, Peterson, Pelini, Spurrier, Gruden, Cowher - these guys are not leaving there programs/NFL...period).
Pinkel continues to win every year at Mizzou, went 10-3 this year, and beat OU and aTm.
ALSO, the guy can coach QUARTERBACKS! The last three quarterback he developed are Brad Smith, Chase Daniels, and Blaine Gabbert. Gabbert is going to be drafted high in the first round this year.
Imagine Pinkel developing QB's at LSU with Chavis as DC. Heck, imagine what Pinkel could do with Mettenberger at QB and LSU's Defense next year!
For the record, I'd prefer to keep Les Miles. But i really believe he is gone to Michigan.

The last Saints DC to get hired as a HC in the SEC was...Ron Zook. Yikes.

LSU would easily be the biggest vacancy in college football. We could get, in large part, whoever we wanted.

Not so fast my friend...
Look at the coaches and talent in the SEC. Not just any coach can walk in and live up to the expectations. The question is who do we want and will they come? The list is short although we are not boxing ourselves in like Michigan.
My guess is 1) HC Experience 2) SEC Experience 3) Big Time Coordinador 4) NFL Name

Chicken, I haven't read the whole thread but - if you're putting up a list of potential candidates, and belowpar hasn't chimed in, do you know something we don't?

I like Terry Bowden. Even though he is 54, out of all his brothers he seems to be the most like his dad and could be here for many years. He has big-time SEC experience and no more baggage than most anyone else. He is well-connected with several good offensive assistants and would likely keep Chavis. He could have stayed out of coaching and made good money as an analyst, but he chose to get back into football. That proves he is a football coach through and through like Bobby. He went 20-6 in the last 2 seasons at Northern Alabama and is 131-59-2 over his career.

I would make Coach Saban say No and then my second call would be to Coach Terry Bowden.

Gotcha. Bet you're glad you didn't close this board down now.

Isn't he like 60 years old?

Aw..heck. We'd just have to put him to sleep next year anyway. Nevermind...

60 is the new 50...so he would be able to coach at least 15 years...
