I think it bothers you when ANYONE dares to say that Saban could want to leave Bama. No, I was not one of the guys on here beating the drum for him to come back. I made a few light hearted comments about it being worth taking him back just to see the Bama meltdown and witness the implosion of Alabama football.

I think Saban felt he could go to Alabama and see immediate improvement based on Shula's success and Sabans belief that he could coach up those players. I think he saw a lot of talent and never thought things would be this hard. He started off his career there by being mugged by drunk rednecks at the airport and soon found out how even a coach with "total control" can be micromanaged by booster groups. He openly complained about having to attend golf tournaments and such things that LSU never made him do. I think the situation has gone downhill from that point and the book scandal is only the tip of the iceburg as it relates to violations going on behind the scenes. There has been a lot of smoke concerning grade changing and Red Elephants "helping" the program to get recruits. I think he will be gone to the first opening at a school that has potential and is a clean program. WVU might not be the one but a Penn State opening might. Bama fans are going to have to deal with this stuff every year until Saban leaves. The sad thing (for Bama) is that it will get MUCH worse if Bama has a good year next year.

He would be gone in a split second if the $ was more than Bama was paying.

Sorry Scoop, but you have that backwards. FWIW, I don't think he will leave either, but that comparo is WAY off.

It'd be like someone leaving the Yankees to go to the Marlins / Royals.

Personally, I think Saban is a goner in the future. Nicky is a guy who loves his autonomy, and he's not going to get it at Alabama. It's just not a good fit.

TigerArk says:

I think it bothers you when ANYONE dares to say that Saban could want to leave Bama.

That was TigerArks response to me after I stated this in a post above in this thread:

quote:

I don't know how long he will be at Bama, hell I don't know if he will there next year

That makes no sense tigerark, I clearly said in this thread that I didn't know how long Saban would be at Alabama.

Tigerark:

quote:

I think it bothers

quote:

I think Saban felt

quote:

I think he saw

quote:

I think the situation

quote:

I think he will be gone

Damn dude, that sure is a lot of "I think's" for one post on Saban. I guess you could substitute all the "I think's" for "I choose to believe's".

You don't effing know anymore than I do dude. Get over your brokenheart. I could go on an "I think" rampage about most coaches, but just because "I choose to believe" something doesn't mean we as fans really know. If you look at your posting history(I got curious after the threads about Saban that you are always in) the first 3 pages are 90 percent related to Saban and/or Alabama. I quit after the first 3 pages though.

Maybe I should say MY OPINION IS in place of I THINK. There is no expert on what Nick Saban will do besides NICK SABAN. Anything we say is a THOUGHT and an OPINION. I don't know what the man will do but MY THOUGHT is that he won't be around long. The popular theme among Bama posters is that he just LOVES Bama and could never leave that money. Scoop (who I think is a great poster) keeps telling himself that Saban LOVES the stress of the Bama job and looks so beaten because he is unhappy about losing. I think Nick did love the stress at one time but he's getting older and it would appear to be wearing him down. He had plenty of stress at Miami for more money but broke under the stress and left. I would agree with Scoop that Alabama is probably one of the highest stress jobs out there. I don't, however, think that Saban knew he would have such a difficult time with staffing, personel and booster's butting into the program. He is at the stage in life that he wants a strong, smooth program without interference. He will never have that entire package at Alabama and my OPINION/THOUGHT is that he will bolt. Will he bolt for WVU? Who knows. Will he bolt when a job like Penn State comes up? Probably! Those are both schools who cut their coaches some slack and are loyal to them as long as they compete well in their conference and occasionally challenge for a championship. That is the kind of job that older coaches like to retire at. Alabama will never be that program so I just do not see him staying. I know it's not a popular opinion with the Alabama faithful but it is an OPINION shared by more than just me.

The suggestion that Saban will go to WVU is stupid. Your apparent obsession with the topic is just as bad. Saban did some great things for LSU. He's Bama's coach now. Get behind Les and let Nick go.

First, I am not the only one to start or respond to these threads. Your obsession with calling me out and trying to paint me as a bandwagon fan is getting old too. I've been an LSU fan longer than most of the posters on this board have been alive. I am one of the original posters on this board and have been a Les Miles supporter since he got to LSU. My only "obsession" with Saban is the desire to have rumors about him leaving negatively effect his recruiting. Bama boards were all over the Miles rumors and Saban used the rumors negatively to recruit against LSU. I appreciated the mutually beneficial relationship that LSU and Nick Saban had but now he is Tigerbait in my eyes regardless of what he did at LSU. Bama is our COMPETITION and anything that will cause them to fail is OK with me. That is the extent of my "obsession".

Bobby is right. His money is guaranteed no matter what happens. He hasn't had near the pressure other coaches have had regarding that issue. The only way he gets fired is if he pulls a Tater Tot.

Why? Id leave bama for WV if I was him. His home town, and he wont have to rebuild a program. WV is a powerhouse in the Big East. He'd need 5 or 7 years to contend in Bama. Next year he could contend with WV.

Saban is a great coach, but i feel he is not a good fit in Bama!!

He will have a couple of great recruiting classes, but will never play for the NC at Bama. Too much pressure to win there. You saw they blew a game against a High school team in North LA!!

Another thing is that he will never retire from there. He will make another move within 5-Years!!

Great Thread going on here!!!

Now this is funny.

He'd need 5 or 7 years to contend in Bama.

You can't be serious? We were terrible this year. All you have to do is check and message board over here to see that we lost to Monroe. Y'all can't let it go. Yet...........

We were 6-2 and 3 minutes away from beating the national champions...good luck by the way.

5 to 7 years away from contending? Yeah right, we were 3 minutes away.

To add on to Deaux's post, I am going to say something a bit off the wall.

IF, by God I mean IF, we had managed to hold on to the lead with y'all, I think Bama would have won the rest of their games. Say the East goes on as it went and the Viles go to Atlanta with us. We pound the shite out of them again and win the title. You know where that probably puts us? New Orleans on the 7th.

I almost drowned on the Kool-aid on that one, didn't I? Ah well, it's always nice to speculate when your team goes on a skid...

Thats just my opinion!!

Bama is a great football team and yall do have one of the best coaches in college Football.

I just think something won't click with Nick Saban being in Alabama!!

We will see for an improvement next year. Great Recruiting class this year.

We were lucky to win a lot of games this year because of not playing all four quarters!!

Bama will always be a good game!!

More like leaving the Braves to coach the Cubs. The Braves were great at one time, and the Cubs have come close to greatness recently.

I don't mean to gang up, scoop, I'm just sayin'. You're probably the most reasonable Bama fan I've seen.

For the record, I don't think he goes to WVU either. There's a reason people say they're "FROM" somewhere. Les Miles is "from" Ohio, but apparently has no intention of returning except for a visit.
