Bama guys, my step-dad who likes Saban and knows him very well said he was leaving Miami way before anyone else and that he would take the bama job when he said no way, also made this bold prediction he will leave bama after no more than five years. He also said you would have a top five class this year before he even arrived in ttown. That is just Nick. He works like a dog but he gets burn out or bored and moves on to next project.

I know he has a nomadic personality, much like Parcells. But both always seem to leave the place they left in great situations. Minus the 'Phins of course. That's a whole other subject though.
Give me five good years and a competent replacement and I'll be happy.

Saban is an enigma. Great coach with no distinguishable personality. He wants a job where his is the only program in the area. That kind of rules out any of the FLA jobs (plus now they have SF and UCF poaching talent). I think he prefers that the job be substantial enough to draw high quality recruits. And, he wants to win now!
Of the jobs and conferences out there, the SEC has a couple of those jobs: LSU and TN. Now if Fat Phil takes a hike or gets booted, then Nick would be primed for that job. Obviously LSU is taken for the foreseeable future.
I also think that either the TX or OK jobs (TX more likely) would be right up Nick's alley. I'm not saying that Brown or Stoops is headed anywhere, but should something happen, well Nick would be front and center.
Would he come back to the B10, well PSU seems intent on an east coast guy, but he would be looked at. More likely that he would take either the Illinois job (Zook is proving that you can recruit there) or more likely the ND job when Chubby heads back to the NFL (by the way, with Parcells in Miami, he could come knocking in SB).

The problem with this is that the state of Tennessee sucks as far as talent goes. Thus UT's national recruiting year in and year out.
You can't just lock up the state of Tennessee and expect to be a winning program.

Alabama is 7th in the nation in NFL players per capita. This article is 4 years old. Since then we have sent several more to the league. There's a good chance we have surpassed GA.

I really could not give two shits about Saban. I just get a kick out of getting gumps in an uproar at the thought of their Lord, King, Ruler actually daring to leave that shithole called Tuscaloosa.

OK, I'll bite. #7 per capita is what you said. Care to share which ones are #1-6? Alabama will NEVER lock down that state entirely so it really does not matter anyway. Enjoy this recruiting season because it is an extremely unusual one for your state. Oh, by the way, you are on an LSU board so go join the circle jerk over on BOL.

Saban was thought of as a genious by many. But that has been proven false when he took the Alabama job.
I would think any sane person would jump ship and leave Alabama at the first half decent opportunity.
Another thing. How in the hell is Saban going to retire from Alabama when stupid alambama fires every decent coach they hire when they don't go undefeated???
Alabama could be a great place to coach if there wasn't so much meddling in the coaching by assholes that need to get their hands of the Alabama football program.

That pretty much sums up why I feel like Nick won't stay. Bama coaching does not equal job security even when you win a NC there. As Stallings who, according to some Bama posters, left VOLUNTARILY.

Problem is, that's a myth.
Perkins - Quit to coach in the NFL
Curry - Quit to coach at Kentucky. (Granted, he was under ridiculous fan pressure because he couldn't beat auburn, but if he hadn't quit, he wasn't going to be fired.)
Stallings - This one qualifies. He was forced to quit by the president of the university (now at South Carolina). I was not a Stallings fan, but he was a good coach and getting rid of him was idiotic.
Dubose - Quit because he was an idiot on and off the sideline.
Fran - Quit for a job at Texas A&M.
Price - Fired because of stupidity. The team was in a REALLY bad place because of the sanctions, Fran leaving, and left over Dubose residue. They could not take a chance on Price. There is no way of know whether he would have been a good coach or not.
Shula - Anyone who thinks we fired a good coach when he got the boot is lying to themselves. It was funny to see how every opponent though he was one of the worst coaches in the league....until he was fired and suddenly BAMA had fired another good one.
Saban - History indicates that he's a mercenary who will be around for less than 5 years and then he will leave.
In short, BAMA firing all these quality coaches is a myth. Stallings was 1 and Curry (although many people do not consider him a quality coach when you look at his overall career) was run off by fan pressure, but was not fired.
