Gotta throw Hal Mumme's name out there. His New Mexico St D gas really stepped up this year

What about Brian Schottenhiemer? He went to Florida to learn under Spurrier. He almost got the Dolphins job last year, stayed with the NY Jets. While there offense sucks, it isn't his fault. If we are going the NFL Coor. route, he wouldn't be a bad choice. I would rather have Garret, but I think Schottenhiemer should at least be mentioned.

My choices

1. Steve Spurrier
2. Jack Del Rio
3. Butch Davis

Mangino - His success this season has in large part (no pun intended) due to his schedule (No Texas, Oklahoma in conference games and a piss poor non-conference).

Gary Gibbs - NO WAY. Run out of every other job he's had. He's not even a good DC in the league.

Brian Kelly and Bobby Petrino feel are solid capable picks
#1 is JDR but i don't think we will be able to wait and if we do lose recruits, he may make playoffs

Who would we lose? Are you people frikkin serious? We might have the 13th best class instead of the eleventh.

Rodriguez would be my first choice, but he turned down Miami last year, so I don't think he is available.

After Rodriguez, Crowton would be my choice since his offense was very successful this year and is familiar with the talent coming back next year.

Finding a good defensive coordinator would be easier than finding a proven offensive coordinator.

I have faith Skip Bertman will do the right thing if he is still in full control of our athletic department.

I was trying to remember correctly. Didn't Mike Shanahan interview for our head coaching vacancy back in the 80's after Arnie left us? I know Spurrier did, but I thought there was an NFL coach also interested. Sam Rutigliano was one of them, but didn't Shanahan interview? Correct me if I'm wrong.
