Should just make Aranda HC right now and be able to pay him as much as it takes.

O had no business getting this job

Look, I agree with this, but no one has shown me how this would even happen. The real world doesn't operate like a message board.

Orgeron will make $3.5 million per year as part of a five-year contract. His Year 1 buyout is $12 million.

Former coach Les Miles, fired Sept. 25, 2016, made $4.3 million per year, and the school owes him a buyout of more than $9 million — paid in monthly installments over six years. The program saved $800,000 with Orgeron's salary, funds the school used on coordinators Dave Aranda and Matt Canada. The duo is set to make a combined $3.3 million this year, believed to be more than any other coordinator duo in college football.

Orgeron's buyout drops every subsequent year of the contract. It slips to $8.5 million in 2018, $6 million in 2019, $4.5 million in 2020 and just $1 million for the final year.

Orgeron getting ANY kind of buyout should be enough grounds to show Alleva the door. I'm still in shock about this.

Essentially what it boils down to, from what I understand, is that O has a fully guaranteed contract, and whatever he hasn't already been paid will be converted to a buy out if he is terminated before the expiration of the contract.

or just fire O.

Ideally, but would amount to Alleva admitting to a massive mistake, and we all know that won't happen.

This is like the Seinfeld episode where George got his secretary a raise lol

Immediately what I thought of.

"A secretary cannot make more than her boss!"

"Well apparently they can."

Shouldnt matter if CEO cares. LSU's rebuttal to him being upset should be get to an SEC Championship game and we'll talk about your money. And by the way get a prolific offense on the way

They won't pay Aranda more than O, it won't happen even though it should. If the 3 million offer is true then Aranda is gone and that's all there is to it.

A coach who's sell to the fanbase was to hire "the best" coordinators is going to lose the best DC in the country. A DC that was already on staff when he was hired.

If you can't laugh at this point you're a sad person.

that probably means a raise and extension for Orgeron

No you have watched too much of JA's negotiations... that NOT how you do that.

If you want Aranda - you keep HIM, just HIM... give him the raise and extension - that is your asset.

When a sales team does a great job, the janitor doesn't get a raise.

The best coach on staff should also be the highest paid. If O doesn't like it he can quit.

And that suddenly makes this a win/win for LSU, if Alleva puts his money on the table.

If Alleva pays Aranda $3M / season, Aranda is, in effect, the HCIW. No way O would be dumb enough to meddle with Aranda's defense if it's cheaper to fire O than Aranda.
