The horns currently sit at 5-4 with 3 games remaining.

After 2 very nice wins over Baylor and TTU, the mood is starting to swing here.

Their remaining schedule:

WVU
@ Kansas
TCU

all 3 very, very winnable games for him, provided that he keeps pounding d'onta foreman.

there's no way they can this dude at 8-4, with a 5 game winning streak and 2-3 wins over ranked opponents.

He's even told the media that whoever coaches next year has a 10 win team. I think he deserves that chance.

and I don't know why his middle name is Rene.

They win out, he keeps his job. 7-5 or 6-6 I don't see him there next year.

Really? The Texas job opening up affects LSU's search in a big way. But you know that.

Honestly? I like the guy and would like to see him succeed. He's done the grunt work at Texas to get it turned around, I'd like to see him reap the reward tbh.

Good coach, good person, and his players really like him.

Perhaps you missed the name of this board. Someone sounds bitter.

I hope Herman is all he is cracked up to be because in the scheme of things he has not done a whole lot as a head coach. Gonna give a man probably 6 or 7 million that doesnt have a lot of big wins on the resume.

Louisville, Florida St and Oklahoma are pretty big wins for a G5 resume.

but yes, he's got some peculiar losses on there as well.

Would Herman be a serious candidate, and atop many peoples' lists, if you take last season off the table? So just judge him as a HC on the results from this year so far.

The thing that worries me is he seems to be losing his team. I don't see that as being ok, no matter what rumors are floating around. Whatever you're doing behind closed doors, you go out and make sure your team has the right mindset no matter what.

Why would you ignore his best season as a coach less than a year away from it?

How about we do the same for Orgeron? Let's only judge him by his HC accomplishments and not interim accomplishments. Would anyone still consider him as a possible candidate at LSU? Cherry picking can be fun!

Because we are the best fans in the country and knowledgable about all college football matters. This fact lends itself to many great discussions about other programs as well

There are some red flags, but lots of reasons for optimism.

At the absolute least, Tom Herman likely guarantees LSU a modern offense that will be effective against most of the competition it faces.

As long as LSU continues to recruit at their current level, a coach like Tom Herman will have a talent advantage against most of the teams he coaches against.

Saban had a lot of red flags as well, at a larger program than Houston.

Find a guy that can gameplan and matchup with the best coaches in the country and take your chances. There will never be a perfect candidate.

Definitely deserves a chance to play a team with all his kids next year. He's trending in the right direction.

Frankly, if Texas fires him, it's clearly racism.
