Guess he may like $$$$ above all else. If he goes to tulane I am sure he will be gone in short order unless the big 12 talk is true.
Posted on 11/26/11 at 8:05 pm to threeputt
even if the Big 12 talk is true he'd still leave for Miss St in a heartbeat and maybe even Ole Miss

you guys would be the Big 12's bitch for years. I'm sorry but that doesn't sound attractive. Especially because he could stay at UL for a few years then get a SEC offer or a offer from a real Big 12 team

Maybe so but in the meantime he will be making at least a millon bucks a year more than at ull.

yea I know. But to hear him say all of the stuff he said and then to leave after one year and go to a schools 2 hours down the road just pisses me off.

B.J. Thompson is saying that Coach Hudspeth has not been interviewed at Tulane and he thinks he wouldn't leave, because he can probably get a better job.

A better job this year or in the future?
Posted on 11/26/11 at 10:46 pm to Hazelnut
Both. He will probably interview for the Ole Miss job. Hud, Hugh Freeze, Larry Fedora, and Kirby Smart seem to be the top candidates. Freeze or Smart would be best case scenario for the Cajuns. If Fedora goes to Ole Miss, Hud will most likely go to Southern Miss.

yea I figured. I would like for him to stay another year or 2 but I'd understand if he left. Like I said though, it better not be to Tulane
My question is, if Ole miss or Southern Miss dont happen, do you think he may leave for Tulane? or do you see him waiting it out here for a better job in the future?

Depends on what his priorities are. If he just wants to make money right away, he'll leave. If he wants to stay and set himself up for a job where he'll be successful, he'll stick around.
I have doubts that Ole Miss would hire him. He's a highly excitable guy who can recruit and get people hyped up, but Ole Miss already tried that out with Ed Orgeron.

Yea and I get the impression he wants to set himself up to be successful but who knows

These kinds of winning streaks don't happen to often especially at a place like ULL. You guys in reality are only 8-4 which is not really good in the big scheme of things. If I were a coach that wanted to move up I would ride this wave to a higher paying job ASAP. Obviously you don't want to take a job where you are destine to fail but lets face it the odds of him getting this much attention again is slim.
ULL had a great year so congrats but coaches are motivated to be on the big stage. Hudspeth is gone if anyone will have him. Sorry guys!

We're losing Ladarius Green on offense, that's pretty much it. We should be better next year than we were this year. Plus as long as we stay in the 7-5, 8-4 range he'll be the top guy for Mississippi State when Mullen is no longer there.

Fair enough. I hope he stays. I think you guys could have something going on over there. When we played you guys I was like " dam they this kind of support over here?" I was pleasantly surprised. It gave me hope that if we ever have any consecutive positive seasons that we could have a fraction of that kind of support.
I am just pissed that schools in this state don't see the true value that athletics has on our universities. The cap on university money to athletics based on enrollment is something that has to be changed if we are every going to make some noise as a whole. I would love to see 2-3 teams in Louisiana making a bowl every year while our FCS teams make it deep into the playoffs. This will never happen on a shoe string budget though.
Good luck

Orgeron never had HC experience and was only known for his recruiting. Hud has atleast had some HC experience and success, and shown he can do more with less.
It would not be like hiring Orgeron

i think the only way Mullen leaves is being fired, IMO. I just don't see any team being high enough on him to spend $3mil + on him to be their coach.

Yeah, I mean we'll see but I just don't see Hudspeth's attitude fitting in at the Grove.
