The Cajuns candidates for when Mark Hudspeth leaves within a few weeks

That dude is gone pecan, maybe even before the bowl. I don't know where he's headed but he aint stickin' around, in my not so humble opinion.


The in-house candidate:

Jay Johnson - offensive coordinator/ quarterbacks coach. Positives: turned Blain Gautier into the most efficient SBC quarterback and the Cajuns offense into a pretty prolific group. Negatives: has the personality of a rock.

Reed Stringer may get an interview, but he's more a recruiting guy. I don't know how well he does the whole x's and o's type deal.


Joe DeForest was a finalist before we hired Hudspeth so he would probably be looked at again. He graduated from USL in 1997 so he has strong ties here. His downside is that he's never been more than a position coach.

Ron Roberts - head coach at Delta State University. He has helped turned Delta State into a division 2 power since he took over in 2007, and was a late field goal away from winning the title last year. They're 9-2 this year.

Kenny Edenfield - offensive coordinator at Troy University. He seems to be pretty good at developing offensive talent but he's only had a couple of years as a coordinator, not real head coaching experience.
