Aranda already is the highest paid assistant in college football, set to make $1.85 million this year under a contract that runs through the 2019 season. A stipulation in his contract calls for him to pay a buyout of 40 percent of his remaining salary if he were to leave for a non-head coaching position less than 500 miles from LSU's campus. That amount would be about $1.5 million in this case.

That $1.5 million Alleva gets from Aranda’s buyout will help offset the money LSU will have to pay for Canada’s buyout

I know you're (hopefully) being sarcastic.

But if not - we don't need money. We have money growing on trees. What we need are elite coaches. Those are worth all the money in the world.

Corch O as HC, Ensminger as OC, and Pete Jenkins as DC... imagine the cost savings!

If Aranda leaves we shouldn't buyout Canada and instead try to scuttle this travesty.

Save all those bucks to replace O after we fire AD etc.

The bright side is that it’s O’s death wish. With Aranda leaving there is no way O will survive. I still can’t belive we hired him in the 1st place

So according to Alleva, LSU is sitting pretty as the big winner in all of this.

He’s going to need to when the inevitable big drop in season tickets happens.
