Not if you are trying to frick up the coaching search of your biggest rival.

Key wording in that statement "While we discuss next step" - next steps in finding a new coach.

I think lane has seriously damaged his reputation with this, even if he stays. Now everyone knows all the BS he’s been feeding about being different was just all to try to create an image to make him more attractive for future jobs.
College sports fans are emotional nut jobs who like to pretend they care about "loyalty" and "morality". But all they really care about is winning. Kiffin could throw puppies off the top of the stadium before a CFP game and the fans would still want him as long as he wins. On the flip side, he could adopt 50 underprivileged kids, set up a fund to help abused girls, and give his entire salary to St. Jude, yet fans would still demand he be fired after back to back 4-8 seasons.
College football is entertainment. Some, apparently many, get WAY too personal about it, but it's still entertainment. And ALL that matters is winning.

If I'm Ole Miss and I have a chance to laugh and dump on LSU, I take FULL advantage. Even if that means creating a scenario to do just that.
Hate makes rivalries fun!

He’s leaving. Making playoffs is huge financial win for school, city, and state because they host playoff game!! Lane gets to leave team in playoffs which is better than when he got there. Lastly, his sons HS season will be over by next Friday so that puts announcement after his season so it don’t affect him and Lane can attend his sons games without being attached by OM fans.
Seems obvious as hell but keep watching planes etc.

I think this has been the issue all along. How he continues to coach, and for how long, while also taking the LSU job. Plus the OM coaching search aspect as well.

Egg Bowl is Friday.
They’re setting up a heroic like announcement that he’s staying while Gameday is on next Saturday morning.
If he's staying, the time to announce it is now. Rally everyone together and stomp a hole in your rival and argue for the best seed you can
