It makes absolutely zero sense financially. A 1.5-2 mil a year pay cut plus wash Texas of their buyout? I realize none of your posts on here are based on facts though

If he doesn't care about money I guess it's possible

Could they really pay that much and buy out Strong?

According to Texas fans? They could hire Saban and build his office on the Moon, with money left over for a custom, Longhorn-themed Space Shuttle.

The truth is that Texas doesn't make THAT much more from athletics than Alabama (153 mil for Bama, 161 mil for Texas - making them #4 and #2, respectively, in the country). While Texas can certainly pump more money into it than Alabama, all the numbers being floated are within Alabama's reach as well if they so choose to do so. Alabama has a larger profit margin from their Athletic Department than Texas ATM (30 mil vs 7 mil), meaning they don't have to pimp their boosters to make up the difference like Texas would need to.

Also, unless the Board of Reagents at Texas has suddenly decided to grow up (unlikely over 3 years), they will NEVER give Saban the level of control he wants.

If money were the only issue, I'd be way more worried if Oregon ever came shopping - they obliterated Texas in revenue the last time it was reported (topping 191 mil) with a huge surplus to go along with it (85 mil).

That was due to a one time donation. They came back down to earth this year.

Hearing the same thing, he would be perfect fit for them. Perfect.

They will pay up to 20 million a year, nobody has more money than these Mfers. They could get Alumni to pay all of it, throw in a house, a jet, and a 10,000 acre ranch just for fun. But they ain't easy to deal with either.

If Strong leaves Nick it getting a raise and or a new job. That much is for sure. At least 10 million a year

No they wont and you're an idiot if you have somehow in the midst of your wishful thinking convinced yourself they will.

No one is going to pay 2.67x MORE than what he's currently making (as the highest paid coach in college football). Not. Happening.

Will be fun to watch some of you continue to obsess over it though. Your resignation to not beating him again is palpable in these threads when you try to conceal your desperate hopes that he leaves.

If you think that was the only factor you didn't pay attention. The fact mack brown had to be drug to the curb kicking and screaming did not help nor how the administration handled that.

The only team Saban would leave Bama for now is the Patriots.

There's no fricking way he's leaving bama to go to Texas, regardless of what they say of how much they will offer.

Kinda.

Some regents went cowboy and looked into Saban without talking to anyone in the AD first. Then once they got a notion that Saban might play ball those regents went back to the Austin and tried to "sell" Mack on retiring so their plans could work out.

When that didn't work out, it is obvious that Saban's agent didn't feel like playing games with regents that lacked the authority to actually hire him unilaterally. A year later Saban tried to keep that option open for as long as possible, but leaders at Texas tossed back and forth the hot potato of who needed to fire Mack and by the time someone actually did it Saban had already signed the Bama deal.

So really what fricked it up is no one had the nuts to fire Mack on a timetable Saban wanted.

For a year or two, MAYBE.

That level of arrogance is epic though. No way they are willing to release that level of control. What good is money without power?

The plan, from my sources (the former handler of Bevo), is that the University of Texas will privatize and give Saban 10% equity so that he can sit on the board.

That is the same exact thing that everybody said about you guys, also. But y'all managed to suck it up and keep your hands out so why don't you think that they couldn't? If he got them winning, they could easily do it, just as Bama did.

And for what it's worth, I think the rumors are pretty funny right now.
