They have several alums that could stroke that check and not give it a second thought, but those same alums were probably behind firing Herman’s and hiring Sark. So they are in a bit of a pickle .

And just lost to Kansas, and is now probably not gonna be bowl eligible. Sark is awful.

You do know Saban lost to Croom and LA-Monroe and finished the season with 4 straight losses at Bama in '07?

No Sark or UTX fan but just pointing out a rough first season doesn't mean a HC won't find success.

Herman gets unfairly criticized.

Texas is just a bad program. He actually did quite well there.

It's pretty crazy how bad they are when they have more resources and money than anyone else in the country. The boosters over there honestly want to be the coaches. Think Jerry Jones and how bad Dallas was because he wants to be the owner, GM, head coach, and everything else all in one. The guy fired a multiple super bowl winning coach because he wouldn't comply with his demands for the team. It's insanity. They have a similar vibe going on at that school and it shows. Brown won in spite of all that because I think he is the only one they've ever trusted for a brief period of time and he was able to actually run the program his way. He lost his edge and resigned and it was likely just due to the pressure they were putting on him. Now, they hire coaches, don't give them time to fix the culture and just fire them when they don't win right away. Herman was moving in the right direction, but they couldn't wait anymore and just got rid of the guy. Now look at them. It's ridiculous. That's why this hire for LSU is so important. If you follow Orgeron's two year tank with someone who can't right the ship and change that culture quickly, you'll start a vicious cycle like you see at Texas. Pretty amazing how fast it can go to shite. I lived over there around San Antonio and Austin for a few years for work and man, the arrogance those fans have is really off putting. They truly think that a coach should be able to show up and win a championship. They have no concept that the program is broken and it's going to take time to change that culture back to what it was with Brown. With the way they approach things, they'll never give a coach the time it takes to fix it.

That's true, but Texas doesn't look at things that way. They fired Herman and he never had a losing season and actually had them trending up. Why do you think they hired Sark to begin with? They can't get a higher profile coach to go there anymore because they fire them if they don't win championships immediately. People are trying to brand LSU that way just because they are firing Orgeron two years removed from a national championship, but there is a huge difference there. Orgeron was obviously tanking the program and it was made obvious after Aranda and others left that he wouldn't be able to sustain. The guy admitted it himself. Plus, there are other underlying reasons for that and they'll likely never be made public.

When they hired Charlie Strong, it was a great hire at the time and everyone thought he would do well there, but that obviously didn't work out. Then they hire Herman who comes in after Brown and Strong and goes 32-18. That's really good considering how broken that program was at the time. Then they fire him because of the attitude that's not good enough for Texas. They deserve everything they get at this point. They had a coach that had them trending up and got rid of him. That kind of shite turns coaches off. They'll have to catch lightning in a bottle with a up and comer at this point to make it back to relevance. Why would a coach go there to get fired 3 years later knowing they need more time than that to actually fix it? It's bizarre. They had a rough run at the end with Brown and then Strong failed, but they likely had their guy to turn it back around if they had given him time and they completely blew that up.

Maybe the last 5 coaches aren't the problem?

did Texas think of this possibility?
