Given the impact of the Schiano debacle, Doeren is actually not that bad of a hire. His last two seasons have been decent and NC St isn't the easiest place to win at. Doeren shouldn't cost a lot to get, so they could spend bigger on a really good staff.

His two predecessors were just as decent as he is(Doeren is 33-30, Amato was 49-37, O'Brien was 40-35) and they were both fired. He was on the hot seat before this season.

i mean i guess i'd rather have doeren over schiano, but not by much. dude seems to have similar issues to butch jones and nc state appears happy to let him walk. he also fired matt canada.

if you're doeren though, you're basically signing up to go work for a guy who's days are pretty clearly numbered after this debacle. New ADs often want their guy running the football show since it ultimately decides their own job security. Being that he's the 5th choice hire of a failed AD, I'm thinking he knows he'd have a pretty short leash

I don’t understand why they just don’t sign Tee Martin and end this shitshow. At least he’s a UT guy who fans will support.

As I UT fan I dont think he is ready to take the UT job. He would be set up to fail, and his "fan love" will go away quick.
Also his wife apparently is the harder sell. May or may not have to do with Tee baby mama issues in kvile. Who knows
