Well I guess anyone is better than Roof, I just remember some USCe fans being pissed about their D this year.

His name is legit in relation to this search. Earlier I said I wouldn't be surprised if it was Zook. I also wouldn't surprised if it was Ellis.
I asked a friend who knows Ellis (& Zook) earlier in the day about the AU DC position and what he was hearing and he said "not yet...i'm in the middle of it". I assumed Zook, but it could have been Johnson. Would have to be one of the two if he is "in the middle of it".
(fwiw - he's the guy that gave me the info about Garcia b/c he heard it from Ellis)

Ellis left the Arkansas job after one month because he said he wanted to go back to South Carolina, which had just opened up, because he was a few years short of getting the state pension. Has he hit that mark yet?

Not sure. He's got 15 years in that system as of this year. If 15 is the mark then he's there. if it's 20 then he's got some work to do, obviously.

Ellis Johnson has a very good reputation as a top DC in the SEC.

For those of you wanting Whitt Jr. why? The SEC is not a place to cut your teeth as a coordinator.
Withers doesn't excite me at all. More of the read and react bullshite we've been dealing with. Actually, we were more of a just stand there and let people run by us defense.
Ellis Johnson is old as frick and washed up. Still bitter about Malzahn making him look like a bitch last year. Do not want.
As you can see, I probably won't be excited about anyone we hire, because I'm negative like that
