On a different forum, sorry Chicken, I stated that Tucker doesn’t have the resume to land the LSU job and think Franklin should get the Job…I was then hit with comments of suggesting my post had racist undertones by not wanting Tucker…let that sink in lol

Yeah, these lefties have an agenda. OP refuses to acknowledge numerous posts based on the resume.

Where have you been the last few years, zippy?

Half the fan base never accepted the old coach, half will not accept the new one.

Were the other schools or pro teams “woke” when they made those hires?!?

Sometimes a version of it was in play, other times, not so much.

I mean, the Rooney Rule is a thing.

Tucker isn't getting hired, so it's a non story anyway.

There are a thousand variables, but at least we know he's being hired despite his race, not because of it (at least in 2021).

Now, there is no official Rooney Rule in college, but if race wasn't injected into the conversations (for non merit/non "football" reasons), it likely would have gone away.

Race as an issue in our daily lives has been metastasizing for over a decade now. Really probably goes back to Rodney King and OJ.

Well Alleva was an incompetent mf'er but that's a whole other topic. But yes, unless Saban is hired our fan base will not be 100% united on the hire.

Point is, look at Woodward's track record on hiring coaches... pretty damn good. So if he hires Tucker then its because he thinks Tucker is a good fit. I think Woodward would resign before hiring a coach he doesn't want. Just my thought.

Which is exactly how most would feel if the school president limited the viability based on his racial mythology.

This is Woodwards trophy hunt.

I believe some of these people aren't able to separate hiring a minority from wokesim. No one gives a shite if a black dude is hired.

Specific hires (black or white) would raise eyebrows.

Dang, you went super old school with coach Croom.

Mississippi St, Stanford, and Vandy. Did they really have a ton of options at the time of the hires? I honestly don't know. I suppose Stanford might because they were established.

Tomlin is an outstanding coach and well Dungy had Peyton Manning. Still a solid coach.

Any ways, they are blaming "wokeism" because the president is a CRT guy who allegedly stated he wants a black coach. From other rumors it was made known before the DC search that the DC hire was going to be black no matter what. It just so happens that best DC available IMO was Freeman and I wanted him at LSU bad. I hate we missed out on him, but it will all work out. I just don't agree with forcing any particular hire though.

African American head coaches who were hired (both in college and pros) well before "Wokism" was a thing.

Correct. Every one of those were hired on merit, perhaps even hired when it bucked the trend. Remember it wasn't that long ago there was a comment by a broadcaster (a fairly major broadcaster) who said something along the lines of "there aren't as many black head coaches in the league because there aren't that many who can handle the job".

Wokism is hiring based on quota/skin color (non-white)/because of knowing you will get pressure if you hire another white coach.

Wokism is hiring a what appears to be mediocre at best coach like Mel Tucker to lead a great program like LSU because he is black. His body of work certainly doesn't appear to support his getting the job or even being considered, you agreed with that.

I can't count how many times folks on here argued for Frank Wilson to be the first black LSU coach. Would be a black Ed O, to a degree (recruiter, not an Xs and Os guy outside of running backs).

Folks do not want a diversity hire.

I don't know about "every" one, but there was a time when Marvin Lewis was about the most accomplished, qualified coach in the NFL who had never been a head coach, so there is some validity to this analysis.

Herm Edwards, Charlie Strong, Romeo Crenel, Lovey Smith...

The only thing in common with our two lists of names is that most of these men worked their asses off to get where they are and (save maybe Tomlin at the time of HC hire) had great, extensive resumes.

These guys didn't need a Rooney Rule to be good coaches, they already were known quantities.

Your OP is a shite take.

I always liked Sylvester Croom. His game was one of the last of the old school.
