Sumlin as OC

If Canada leaves LSU like a lot of people think he will would Sumlin be a good OC candidate for LSU or would he rather be a mid-major HC?
I think he'd be an awesome hire considering his Houston connections and how good of a recruiter he is plus he is pretty good with QBs. His play-calling is very suspect though and his off-the-field antics are well documented so it'd be a risk.

He will have plenty of offers for a HC job imo

He has basically zero experience actually calling plays FYI

He has been an offensive coordinator for three years in his coaching career. 2002 under Slocum at A&M when he called plays, and 06-07 at OU when he was Co-OC with Kevin Wilson, who did the play calling. He's called plays for one season 15 years ago. He doesn't have an offensive system as a head coach, we pivoted from the air raid to some zone read monstrosity that makes no sense.
And actually Sumlin replaced Babers who was demoted 4 games or so into 02. So it's more like 8 games not a full season

There were reports that UCLA would pursue him if they couldn't land Kelly. This guy is going to be a HC somewhere. And by the off chance you can get him as an OC. What's the time table before he leaves and you're shopping again?

He rode Briles' coat tails, and got the aggie gig before he proved he had his own system.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Would rather have Hugh Freeze or one of the coordinators from Clemson

If Pretty Kliffy gets fired do he and Sumlin get back together somewhere?

The only time Sumlin has EVER called plays was the latter half of one season at A&M under RC Slocum after our OC, Dino Babers, was fired mid season.
He did NOT call plays at OU. Kevin Wilson called all the plays at OU and it was Wilson's system. He's never called his own plays as a HC either. He doesn't have a system of his own.
The guy is smoke and mirrors.
He has a great personality and is very smart. He has always ingratiated himself with the right people and made smart career moves.
As a result, he's made it to HC at a big school with a big paycheck despite not really being good at any part of actual coaching.
And I mean, hey, more power to him. To a great extent, that IS how you become successful in life. But my point is: NO you don't want him as OC because he's never really been an OC.

WTH would I want LSU to become soft and have virtually no running game? No, thanks.

Kevin Sumlin was promoted to offensive coordinator after Dino Babers was fired after the Aggies held Virginia Tech to less than 100 yards rushing (Suggs and Jones COMBINED has less than 100 yards) and still lost 13-3.
Sumlin called the remainder of the 2002 season and hasn't called a play since.

You faggie fans sucked Sumlin's dick for years. Now as a head coach for almost a decade, he's not capable of calling plays. GTFO you butthurt turncoats ... from your gay BoR down to the 12th fig.
