Someone posted in another thread on this board that Miles is sticking with the co-DCs...inside info from someone on the staff. He thinks the prob is with the players vs. coaches.

EDIT...well scratch that. Just read the belowpar posts, so a new DC it will be!

What happened to Buddy Nix? He is one of my all time favorite D coaches. He went on to be a HC. He was one of those believers in toughness. I did like Phil Bennett, too. Another great LSU coach was John Mitchell. These are all proven great D coaches. I would love to go back to a D that was aggressive and tough. Our players have been so superior that they should be able to line up toe to toe on the line and beat anyone. That is what makes me sick.

What about Mike Archer?

His defenses have been pretty good.

How about two blasts from the SEC past ... Joe Lee Dunn, or "Brother" Bill Oliver?

This guy had some hellacious defenses at McNeese State under Bobby Keasler when they were perennial 1AA powerhouses.

We could do a lot worse.

Stoker was also a record-setting qb at NSU.

Hell, I'd even be for bringing him aboard as qb coach.

lol, I came in here to mention stoker..

Yeah, his defenses were really good at McNeese..very very good. He's a capable coach who knows the game for sure.

Was a little bit of a bust as a head coach because he's strictly x's and o's and very little frills..I interviewed him a few times for the campus newspaper..that is the most intimidating 5'8 bald guy I've ever met.

I feel bad for him though. NSU was his dream job..it's got to be hard to get fired from your alma mater.

what wrong with the co Dc's?

It is inconceivable that he "The Ol' War Skule" violates daily a fundamental principle of war--unity of command. There are numerous examples of this in history ancient and modern from the Roman tribunes and consuls to the modern business corporation.

The defensive unit on the field needs one decision maker, just like the offense, and just like the team as a whole. There is plenty of time for workplace democracy and committee meetings off the field when thoughtful deliberation is appropriate.

The defensive duumvirate is likely not the only problem, but on the field it is not the solution.
