he was a coaching nomad in college
such a lazy statement, hell by that logic Coach O could be considered a coaching nomad as he has been at LSU since 2016 and that is the longest he has been anywhere.

I don’t know why some of you act like he’s a terrible OC. His career says otherwise and continues to be a well respected offensive mind.

Now his ability to work with others? Sure
That's kinda my thoughts on it.

Players seemed to like him. But damn, if any conversation with a non-player lasted more than 17 sec. somebody was walking away pissed off.

Oversimplify much? Position coaches are expected to move around a lot and that’s what O was for years. As for his time as more than that, plenty of us, myself included, have thrown shade at him for his performance at Ole Miss and USC. He didn’t last in those positions because he was awful at one and the other didn’t think he could cut it despite doing a good job as an interim (much like Canada at Maryland). He’s at least been better than that here, despite his flaws. And he got here in 2015, not 2016. At least look it up on Google.

As for Canada, again, go look it up. It’s worse. He had a nice run at Indiana, but after leaving there he was an OC at 6 schools in 7 years before taking a year off and going to the NFL. Now he moved up from Pitt quickly because he had a strong season there, but that doesn’t explain the rest of it. We know why he left NC St, here and Maryland. It wasn’t his choice. He also wasn’t retained by Wisconsin when Bielema left for Arkansas and Burt didn’t take him along, as the two reportedly clashed often in Canada’s one season there. Sound familiar?

If coordinators and head coaches don’t stay anywhere long, it’s a red flag. If you are a coordinator who isn’t moving up to head coach and you keep moving on or get told to leave after a year or two, then you are at least a big part of the issue. And Canada’s only head coaching gig landed in his lap because Durkin got fired right before the season.

Defend this guy all you want. I loved the hire at the time, but I’m glad he and O couldn’t get along and he got shown the door, because 2019 would have been just another season with him calling the offense. Feel free to try and talk your way out of that. Good luck to him in Pittsburg.

LOL. Sure........maybe Ed Orgeron actually does know what the frick he’s doing. Just maybe

He fired them and had terrible seasons with both. Let's not get carried away here.

The NFL does some dumb arse shite when it comes to hiring.

Fans were excited about Canada, I get it, ooooh a jet sweep. The fricker ran the ball more times than Les did and yall ate the shite up thinking things would change. That was a bad hire and obviously was never vetted.

Do you understand your username? You must've cherry picked your teams. Doesn't make sense! If you live in Pittsburgh then the Pirates should be your team. If you live in Atlanta or near by you should picked Falcons!

I understand it perfectly, that's why I chose it. I have explained this it seems ad nauseum on here, but since it bothers you so much, I'll do it again:

My entire family(dad, mum, stepmum) is from Western Pennsylvania. Thus my roots are entrenched there. If you have Western Pennsylvania roots, being a Steelers fan is a birthright, and I've been a Steelers fan since I first started following football in middle school. I was the only Steelers fan in my high school aside from one of my assistant principals who was from the eastern part of town. He had my back while I proudly wore my Steelers gear through the halls when when we played the Cowgirls in Super Bowl XXX. If it hadn't been for him I'd of gotten my arse kicked.

I grew up in south metro Atlanta. I was 3 when we moved here. I was 10 when the Braves made their run '91(yes, against the Pirates), and I fell in love w/baseball and the Braves, they were the first team I was a fan of and baseball is my first love.

I adopted the Dawgs the same time I started following football. During the Donnan years.

I am also a Penguins(hockey) fan. So I have 2 Pittsburgh teams and two Georgia/Atlanta teams whom I'm fans of, and it follows both my roots/familial home(Western PA.)and the place where I grew up(Atlanta).

No, not a Pirates fan. And I do follow the Falcons and want them to do well. I think they knocked it out of the park hiring Arthur Smith.

So both Canada and Linehan are NFL OC’s.

Understanding that results can be dependent on so many things including personnel, coaching delegation dynamics, etc., JUST WOW!
