Honestly, don't you think he's about maxed out ULL? I think back to Saban at MSU. He was a lot like Napier...second fiddle school and the second fiddle coach in the state. Above avg. record but nothing that was screaming "future GOAT". Then he got handed the keys to the Porsche and the rest is history.

To be fair, that list is horrible! Mullen/ED/Mack Brown all 3 in top 15.

He’s had facilities, staffing cash, and the alpha program in a talent rich state. What’s so different here ?

Jimbo = stability 9-3 record every year. Don't see contender potential for the natty based on his 12 years coaching record 115-35 or 9-3 average per year.

Do we really know that those guys have a higher potential than Jimbo? Like he is one of 4 active coaches with a Natty. He’s a great recruiter and a former Saban assistant (which a lot people give Napier and Tucker credit for), he won a Natty as a coordinator (like Aranda) and he’s already been a head coach in the SEC. Checks a lot of boxes…

I know I’ll be an outlier for this, but I think the program needs stability right now. The “potential” choice is a huge risk, because the program is currently on a major downward projection.
It would be safer to bet on a very consistent coach who has a chance, albeit a low chance, at a natty, but who is going to be consistent in recruiting and winning most of the time… because then at least if we don’t get the natty we can reset in 5-7 years with a high potential choice and give him a totally loaded roster/pipeline….we will not be giving that to whoever takes this job now…

You must be blind, look around, you don’t think this program needs stability right now.

You’re right but still it’s short term thinking. Eventually the same apathy sets in when people realize he can’t beat the devil in Tuscaloosa either and he’s not exactly young enough to wait him out

I'm sorry, I must have missed your signature hire?

You think Jimbo is retiring in 5-7 years?
We aren't going to be firing Jimbo if we sign him

Listen, bubba, I was telling this board Les was arse since 2005 and O was an idiot in 2016. My record on calling shitty LSU coaches is perfect.

The oldest coach to win an NCAA championship was Bowden at 69. Saban is already 70. As good as he is, he might get 2 more. But they will become few and far between once recruits realize he can't promise them 4-5 years.

I probably take Aranda over Jimbo but just by a little. I take Jimbo over the rest of your list. Jimbo gets crapped and I don’t understand why.
