As good as they were back in the decade after integration and with hordes of talent no state titles since 1979, this may be the first time they have gone outside their "comfort zone" for a hire.

All I need to know is if he'll funnel their best players to LSU.

He’s an O Perry Walker grad, so I’ve got to imagine he and Frank are well acquainted.

And if the best he can do is three wins in district, that’s ok too… that’s the toughest situation in the Catholic League

Hasn't Aug been playing up for a while now?
I fully beleive Karr, Easton, etc being parish-wide charter schools has absolutely impacted Aug. Kids that went to Aug not for the Catholic education, but to escape the NOLA public schools, now have options.
Add in the insane inflation in high school tution costs probably hurts their base more than any other of the catholic league schools (all of whom are down in enrollment vs the 80s/90s).

I believe we have Savion Jones from one of Coach Valdez teams. And his future is looking bright!

If he does what’s best for the kids, he’ll get them out of Baton Rouge and steer them toward a safe place they can raise a family after football.

quote:Parish wide, you mean multi parish Catholic school enrollment has been in a 30 plus year decline nationwide and shifting demographics and socio economics in NOLA are compound that for the folks on London ave(i mean AP Tureaud). I know many Aug grads and very few have sent their kids there, for a variety of reasons - but few sent them to EK or WE.

You are correct but we are starting to see enrollment go back up on 2600 on a steady trend. Valdez will have some talent to work with in 8th, 9th and 10th grade classes that didn’t play varsity/didn’t play much last year.’

Is he bringing back the paddle from back in my day?
