A friend of mine who is a B.R police, told me he knows someone high up in the TAF, and he said he was told Spurrier is a the next LSU coach.Of course I had to ask how much faith he had in this TAF person, so he bet me a $100.00 it was true. He would not tell me who this person was with the TAF,said he promise him, not to mention his name.I wish it was Nick, but Spurrier will work just find.

I'm pretty sure Spurrier isn't going anywhere. This is from the State newspaper this morning:
"A day after Spurrier was spotted with Blue Devils athletics director Joe Alleva on Duke’s campus, Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser, co-hosts of ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption,” devoted a segment of Thursday’s show to the possibility of Spurrier returning to Durham.
For the record, Spurrier said he was recruiting in the Raleigh-Durham area Wednesday when he decided to show USC assistant Brad Lawing the Blue Devils’ football facilities and visit with Alleva and Mary Dinkins, Spurrier’s secretary when he was Duke’s coach from 1987 to ’89.
Duke fired Ted Roof on Monday after the former Georgia Tech defensive coordinator went 6-45 in four-plus seasons.
“I told Joe, ‘If you need somebody to help sell your new coach, tell them to call me,’” Spurrier said. “Because I hope they get a good coach and hope they can become competitive there.”
Spurrier said several candidates with head-coaching experience have called Alleva about the job. Spurrier is not one of them.
“Shoot, no. I’ve already been to Duke, man,” he said. “I didn’t recruit all these guys right here last year to leave them to the next guy.”"

Spurrier gets that rep. because at Florida he didn't have to do much to get guys to commit there.
He brought in a top 5 class last year and was immediately out on the trail this past Monday. Seems to me like he's pretty serious about getting in quality players and is willing to do what is necessary to get them in the door.

You are right on Mr. Cock,
For all of you LSU fans who think S. Spurrier is washed up, can't recruit, or is to old, you are all crazy. He is a young 62 still with a passion for this game. If he comes here, we will be a winner and we will have a great X & O's coach who can put away teams early and we will not have to sweat as many out like with Les. Les made some bad calls with personnel, play calling, and stupid timeouts, among other things. All he has to do is get a top notch Def. Coord. and let them pin their ears back. He will flourish recruiting this state, and all of the south, including Fla.
