Now that Bower is gone, who takes the reigns?

Tyrone Nix?

Nix would be a good hire for them. They have a very long list of candidates from what I hear.

I have heard rumor it is his job to turn down. He might make more money as LSU DC or other major univ DC. USM job is not very high paying

i think this is one of the best midlevel jobs around. i would much rather this job than a crappy bcs job like vandy. a coach can win this conference and make the jump to an lsu level job. bower could have years ago but waited too long.

I live in Hoover and I have actually heard hear today that they are considering offering the job to Rush Propst, I don't know if there is any truth to it but I should see Rush sometime this week.

The last article I saw said either Oklahoma State's OC or one of several different JuCo coaches in Mississippi.

Unless they get someone who is considered to be a really good candidate, such as Muschamp, I'd have to wonder WTF Gianni was thinking by running Bower off.

(While I know that the JuCo coaches in question have done well at their level, I don't see them coming into Hattiesburg and making an immediate impact, even with a stud RB at their disposal like Fletcher.)

That could be interesting, I would like to see how Rush would do in college. Word down here is he is going to be the next Lee High School (Montgomery) coach.

I had a couple of people tell me Mike DuBose may be in the mix for Southern Miss.

I hope he does well out of the gate.

Myself and other USM alums weren't happy with the way Bower was shoved out the door, so anything less than an immediate improvement probably won't go over well.

You were in the minority. Only people who didn't think this was a good move were people that haven't paid attention to USM football for the last 7 years. It's been underachieving for that long.

Lossing to winless teams at home on national TV ended it for The Bower.

Not so much. He was in town to interview on Friday. Per the Hattiesburg American no one has been offered the job. But Fedora does seem to be a front runner.

Guess it depends on your circle of alumni friends. Myself and everyone I know was ready for this to happen two seasons ago.
