Unless it was baked into his contract, you don’t do it. Bonuses usually baked into a contract include winning your division, your conference, making it to the playoffs, winning a title.
I don’t recall the timing of the raise and extension, but if it was after the mass exodus of staff and players, then it was even more egregious.

Do you really believe that the next LSU coach will tell Woodward that the differentiator was the raise and extension he gave Orgeron after the 2019 season or the 50% raise and $96million guaranteed?

I'm pretty sure a guaranteed extension after winning the NC is a standard clause.
That ideally works to the advantage of both sides, but not in our case since we know he had little to do with it.

Any coach that is worth his salt will expect an extension and a raise after a national title. If LSU doesn’t extend O after the best season ever in college football, it’s a bad look to any coach that might have an interest in coaching for you.You’re an idiot if you think different.
