So where do you stand as far as Mike Gundy?

I think it could be worse. Offensive minded coach. Aranda stays at DC. With this hire, I think LSU would need high powered recruiters.
104-48 at Oklahoma St and had them in the running for a couple of titles. Not sure about his recruiting. More success than Les Miles at Ok St. But that may be irrelevant.
This is just bare bones, judging a book by its cover information.
I'm sure the knock on him is the defense. But there are options at DC, obviously.
(Yes, we know...he's a man. He's older than 40 now.)

No at bad option as far as doomsday scenarios go. I'd like to see us make a run at Fuente before gundy though.

Below Herman, way ahead of Fedora.

Not enthusiastic, could be worse.

easily the #3 choice.

Personally do not want. Wouldn't be the end of the world though.

I'd put him as Plan B #2, with Fuente as Plan B #1. Tier 3 starts with Fedora.

I like Fuente a little better but would not be upset at all.

Why not?
His offense terrible or something?

#3 of realistic options behind Fisher and Herman. Fuente has a 7 million buyout.

The one thing Alleva can't do is hire an inadequate recruiter. The program can recover from a shoddy tactician, if the talent is intact. Conversely, it takes half a decade to repair the damage done by poor recruiting. Gundy doesn't appear to be an elite recruiter and, hence, is a huge risk.

He's a man. That's all I got.

Gundy would be a very solid hire.

Is it fair to say that Oklahoma St isn't the easiest place to recruit elite talent to Stillwater?
Posted on 11/22/16 at 5:47 pm to misey94
i can see that, but fuente isn't leaving vt after one year.
gundy has had an amazing run of success relative to where he's coached.

If Gundy finishes with double digit wins this year, that'll be 3 out of the last 4 years he's won 10+

Yeah, that's true. And it may explain his track record, or it could be a lack of innate ability. It's a risk. Frankly, I haven't done the sort of extensive analysis of Gundy's or Fedora's recruiting history to determine how they would extrapolate to LSU. I just hope Alleva has.
