Ensminger got hit a lot in that two QB platoon system with Woodley. Cut him some slack.

Not a surprising development.

Looking at the current assistant coach roster, there is only one current assistant that has coached qb's, Steve Ensminger. Ensminger coached qb's for one year while at Auburn. Miles knows that this position has been the glaring hole in the team and he is obviously looking to fix this problem. This is why I believe that BG knows he was not a candidate for the job. From the looks of the two coaches that have interviewed and the other coaches in the rumor mill, Miles will be bringing in a coach that has multiple years as a qb coach with recorded success.

I don't buy it

les already has his guy

won't announce until the last minute to keep taking the unlimited recruiting visits before signing day

I've seen this a posted a couple of times, but I don't fully understand. Is he allowed unlimited visits because he has less than 10 coaches? I'm guessing it's a NCAA rule thingie.

Are you implying that he is going gonzo for OC?

If you are asking me? I'm not implying anything other than he has an opportunity to hit a grand slam with this hire & not settle for less "no pun intended". We need new blood, not recycling staff members that has yet to prove they were successful or not in their current position. Miles has a huge advantage now that he did not have in the past. I was of the opinion most of the high caliber coaches believed Miles days were numbered and didn't want to be on a sinking ship. That stigma is gone. LSU needs a quality OC & QB coach. We don't need a recycled Ensminger or Gonzales. This can be the boost that he needs for his legacy. He passes or fails with this hire. I'm not a Miles fan. However, without a QB being developed or improving the performance of that position, having a lame duck OC; and little improvement in WR performance, Miles still managed 11 wins. He must ask himself; what can we accomplish with a solid OC/QB coach JMO

I'm kind of thinking along the lines of what Moscona mentioned on Fridays show...

basically....

Gonzo gets promoted to Co-OC (with miles as other OC ) and Fuentes gets hired as QB coach and OC in waiting since Gonzo undoubtedly will be stolen within a couple/few seasons.

Would Fuentes come here as just a QB coach? Maybe. It's not like his current TCU CO-OC position is that prestigious. At least in my opinion.

take this FWIW, but the rumor section on ESPN quotes BBI as saying the same about the QB couch route, or an OC in title only.

Masconna has made some totally retarded statements lately. He made a HUGE deal on his show about how bad we needed Stevan Ridley and starting siting statitistics... not providing a counter-argument for all the people who have pointed out how many damn carries Ridley has had to aquire these stats, and sure enough, 5 star recruit Spencer Ware statistically dominates Ridley, racking up only 3 yards less than Ridley with 10 carries to Ridley's 24 carries. Ridley averaged 4 yards a carry... and people say he had a GOOD game?! No, Ware had a good game.

Now Masconna is going to say that Billy Gonzo is going to move up? Yeah right. He's already came out and said he isn't even pursuing that job, and he has had absolutely no positive affect on our passing game. Last year we had 0 5 star receivers starting, TT was 4 stars Brandon Lafell was 3 stars... this year we had 2 5 stars as starting WR and TT as a senior 4 star... and our passing moved up by about 12 spots? still above 100 / 120 ... Gonzo hasn't earned jack thus far

Gonzo, just like Meyer seems to have leeched off of Tebow, Harvin and Dan Mullen. Look what Mullen has done at Miss State, and look where Florida has gone without him.

Yes, I'm dead serious... I really did hear it on Moscona's show.
